Fender bender question- never had one until yesterday.
I rubbed up against another vehicle while trying to squeeze into a gas pump yesterday. I put a small dent (less than 4 inches long an 1/4 inch deep) on the car and left a large paint mark. The driver called the cops and he filled out an accident report. He said we could pick up the report and turn it into our insurance companies. I have two questions. If the damage is less than the deductible will my insurance guy still handle the details then let me know how much I have to pay? My second question is the extent of the repairs. The other car had damage to its rear bumper from a previous incident. How do I know I will only be charged for the damage I did. I want to pay for the damage I did but not for every ding and dent on the entire car.
If it were my car and I actually took it to a body shop I would have them take care of all the rest of the dents and dings. I just hope the body shop doesn't "over-estimate" the cost of my damage to cover repairing the whole car. I didn't even feel the collision and the damage is very minor.
