After all these years, I started a job where I am using my education...
...and I have no idea what the fuck I am doing. I have never felt more insecure in my life. I almost had a panic attack on my first day.

I hope tomorrow will be better. I am starting to think that Marketing Communications was not the best for me. My new job is as a multiple account manager at an advertising firm. All that education and I am scared of my shadow because of my horrific former employers.

1. Screw the education, hon...
Just go with what's in your gut. You'll do fine!

2. Remember that no one expects you to know it all right away.
Go ahead and ask until you get comfortable. You're smart; you'll catch on soon.

Also remember that nothing you do can't be undone.

3. Give yourself a break.
You'll do fine once you're settled in. New jobs can be intimidating. I went through the same thing when I finally landed my dream job ... and everyone knew so much more than I did. You'll get the hang of it in no time and your confidence will grow.

4. I am amazed at how little I know about the field, even after...
spending thousands upon thousands of dollars to learn about it. Which proves the point of a very good friend of mine...that life experience is much more important than educational experience.

This is my dream job. There is sooo much to learn. The in-house software is very challenging!

Thanks guys!

5. One thing I learned about that
is that getting the education gets your foot in the door. It proves to the employer that you are capable of learning. Life experience is important, but most companies won't even look at you if you don't have that education.

I didn't know a damn thing about anything when I got my job. But I knew I could learn. I was a computer programmer and never used any of the programming languages I learned in school.

Just hang in there. It'll get easier. I promise!
