3. 1988, primaries ...

The day I turned 18, I did two things: register to vote and register for selective service. I also got my mother to register for the first time in her life, which was weird since my grandmother, her mother, had been registered and voted since she was allowed to be registered and vote.

Most of my candidates won, except for Presidential. I voted for, get this, Al Gore. He actually won here.

Voted for Dukakis in the general of course, but I had little optimisim at the time I did it.

5. Yeah I was lucky to be voting within three months of my 18th birthday
Virginia and Jersey are odd though since we have our governor's elections in odd years.

7. Dukakis vs. Bush Part One, father of the current
son of a Bush that seriously destroying the world right now.

I wasn't old enough to vote in the primaries yet, so I had to wait until the general election. I really wanted to vote for Jessie Jackson, but that didn't quite work out. If only I hadn't been a 10 month baby? Maybe?

12. There was a local government by-election about 2 months after I was 18
which would be autumn of 1997.

First major election would have been the Scottish Parliamentary election of 1999, first general election was 2001.

13. Uh, 1998? I don't remember much about what I voted for.
Edited on Mon Jul-31-06 05:00 AM by BlueIris
I remember voting in 1999 for various things, including whether or not to open the state's adoption records so that adoptees could see their original birth certificates. I didn't vote, because I couldn't decide which kind of vote would be less fair, and then what that fucking thing passed, I was angry about not having voted no. I thought of all the women who had given birth when they had not had any significant choice not to, who were told that at least their privacy regarding having given up an infant was reasonably secure. If anyone is thinking about flaming me for that--save it. I mean it--keep it to yourself. I still feel ashamed of my vote.
