12. a non-standard word
Dictionaries all label it as non-standard and note that the preferred word in Standard English is regardless.

20. You say that like you think it makes it somehow legitimate.
Dictionaries don't consider 'regardless' the preferred word. The consider it the word 'irregardless' is mistakenly trying to emulate.

14. Ho'oponopono
the Native Hawaiian method of conflict resolution.

Note that the 'okina counts as a letter, bringing the total to 12; it represents a "glottal stop", roughly equivalent to the sound native East Coasters put into words like "Tren-in" (the capital of NJ) or "New Bri-in" (the city near Hartford where Stanley tools were made before the era of outsourcing).

28. That's i'iwi to you
although older texts tended to omit the 'okina when it fell between two similar vowels, as its presence is implied.

In the meantime, why not holoholo (journey) through the links here:

31. I've held an I'iwi in my hand.
I did a workshop at Hakalau Nat'l Wildlife Refuge. We were 'mist netting" birds then taking blood samples and measurements. The woman I was working with was doing a study of I'iwi. I like the Akepa as well.

to take nectar from and pollinate specific flowers.

47. The 'honey creepers'
Yeah, it's the Lobelia(pictured above with the Amakihi) to which they adapted. The honeycreepers are a real study of what is called 'adaptive radiation' in evolution. They all pretty much adapted from one species of finch which arrived long, long ago. The endemic Hawaiian birds live up above about 3000 feet because of avain malaria introduced through the misquito which was introduced on the ships which started visiting Hawaiian waters in the 1770s.

Edited on Fri Jul-28-06 07:29 AM by Fox Mulder
Chemistry: CoAs3, Cobalt Arsenide

Skutterudite is used as a minor ore of cobalt and nickel (contrains trace amounts of Ni).

Edit to add: Skutterudite is my favorite mineral because the name itself is funny to say.
