2. OK, let's talk.
I've been to Paris a number of times, and I've stayed in the same hotel every time. It is a great little hotel and it is very near the Tour Eiffel - (Eiffel Tower) and Invalides, etc.
But if you have a lot of money to spend and want luxurious accommodations, you won't like it or a lot of similar hotels.
Paris hotels are very pricey.
So talk to me, email me, and I'll help you find what you are looking for.

15. Preferably no more than 200 but I can splurge if the place is great.
Definitely not more than 300 though. I've budgeted for this but I still can't do that.

3. why not just give me your money instead?
stay in a hotel WITHOUT a view of the eiffel tower and then GO TO the eiffel tower.

seriously, you will have plenty of opportunity to see it, and hopefully, go up it.

getting a hotel room with a view of it is really a waste of money because you pay substantially extra for something you can easily get for free.

6. Well I've been here for 30 days on student loans, so no, I'm not rich,
just the opposite.

Special someone is coming to see me and I live in a craphole. Literally about 10 by 10. I want at least one good night.

17. A-Ha! Of course you want a nice place...
and i have no suggestions for a hotel in Paris, but would suggest that you check out the local tourist boards and agencies. As a furriner, you can say you just dropped in an are looking for a room. Didn't use them in Paris, but in the UK and other parts of Europe, they had some fantastic deals.

Is St. Gemaine en Laye still the romantic little town with the cobblestoned streets it was in the '70s? I stayed at a place there that was much cheaper than Paris, and the town itself was right out of Truffaut movie. Easy to get in and out of by bus and train, too.

To each his own, but to some romance is a great view of the City of Lights and to others it's the boulangeries, the patisseries, the cafes, the shops...

Just walking the streets a warm, romantic people have walked for a thousand years.

7. It doesn't matter about the view
Because the important thing with Paris hotels is their star rating, and whether they have certain things Americans have grown to expect. For example, elevators; air conditioning; space; etc.
Most of them have the basics, such as a private bath, but few have the elevators, air conditioning and large spaces. So it depends on what time of the year you go and what you are expecting.
I love my hotel I stay at, but I won't share it with just anyone.
I will not send someone there just to have them dis it later because they don't know how to judge a Paris hotel.

14. I've been living in 85 degree heat for a month without A/C. That's not
exactly a requirement. Plus my apartment is about 10 X 10 and my shower is standing room only. Trust me...anything is going to be an improvement.

And we're only there for one romantic night. We don't need plugs, etc. We're just going to go back to my apartment in the morning.

10. I have stayed in two that were great, and not expensive, but no views
Louis II in St Germain des Pres

was one... very medieval and cozy, great location.

Regardless, enjoy Paris. My favorite city next to San Francisco. (And that's including NYC and London, fools!!!) ;)

16. Consider staying up on Butte Montmartre and...
Consider staying up on the Butte Montmartre and walking
to the view point in front of the Basilica Sacré Couer. That's
a *GREAT* view of a lot of Paris and the environment up
on and near the butte can be a lot more authentic than
what you'll find down in shoppingville.

This would be especially true if you enjoyed the movie
"Amélie". ;-)

right next to Canal St. Martin. I hear she throws rocks or something to that effect into the canal.

23. We stayed in the Latin Quarter. Walking distance to Notre Dame,
Shakespeare & Co. bookstore, The Sorbonne, Luxembourg Castle & gardens,
and you can see the Eiffel Tower from almost every beautiful spot in Paris.
