3. What song is that?
It sounded like you were showing off your German...:P

I don't think I've ever heard that song before, but I guess that's a good thing, judging from the posts on here...?

Well, I'm listening to Belle and Sebastian right now-AMAZING. I love them. Alot.

I personally like Rammstein. They scare some people but now me - hmmm that gives me an idea.

11. I don't get why they scare people.
Edited on Sat Jul-22-06 02:54 AM by ZombieNixon
I mean, besides fundies, who are scared of anything with drums faster that 100 bpm, but in the world of vaguely epic industrial-styled neo-electronic metal (or whatever) and beyond, there is far, far crazier, darker, and more disturbing music.

Compared to some of the stuff in my music library, Rammstein is really tame! :o

17. I meant to say they scare some people but not me.
I remember when they were one of the scapegoats for Columbine all because they came from Germany and when ignorant people think of Germany they think of only Hitler. Rammstein might be loud but their lyrics in German which I can both read and write , their lyrics are poetic in my opinion. I am not comparing them to Goethe or anything but I think Rammstein is cool.

19. Oh, I got that.
I just don't get why some people (who are not you or me) find them scary. I mean, they're loud, yes, but not nipple-bleedingly intense like some other European metal bands.

And yeah, the whole Columbine thing was bullshit.

8. That's not what its saying.
Edited on Sat Jul-22-06 02:03 AM by CarolinaPeridot
" Hast " is a form of the German verb "haben" which means "to have" . If its said "Du Hasst" then yes its mans you hate me ... this song is saying " you , you have , you have me " - This song is a play on German wedding vows. Wollt Ihr einander lieben und achten und die Treue halten, bis dass der Tod euch scheide? - Do you want to love and respect each other and to remain faithful, until death separates you?). 24. I thought it was a play on the You Have
I thought it was the point. It's a very angry song. Du Hast as You Hate instead of You Have...

And I'm certain the English Version is YOU HATE.

18. I remember one of their videos to their song ( I forgot the name)
but it was a take on Snow White and Seven Dwarfs - it was a video that I know for sure MTV USA would never play. It was very dark - the context were the band members working in the mine and the dwarfs were mining for something else ... Snow White was a drug addict. Like I said the theme was dark but I watched the video everytime MTV Germany and Viva played it because its something that would never be shown on tv in the states.

I've only seen their video for Du Hast! I remember I was in middle school at the time- had just gotten into being "Goth"- I thought that video was soooo freaking awesome! I wish I could see it today, and compare my feelings versus how I thought of it a decade ago!!

actually I'm close to 50 and found the song fairly obsessive.
other drivers thought it strange to see an only mossback graybeard listening to it with the volume turned up .... to 11.

Like CarolinaPeridot points out in #8- its a play on wedding vows. Good song- I was obsessed with it for awhile, but I do think their next album was better. :hi:

32. Another Rammstein classic
Amerika

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uoppb_usY14

We're all living in America,
America is wunderbar.
We're all living in America,
Amerika, Amerika.

Wenn getanzt wird, will ich führen,
auch wenn ihr euch alleine dreht,
lasst euch ein wenig kontrollieren,
Ich zeige euch wie's richtig geht.
Wir bilden einen lieben Reigen,
die Freiheit spielt auf allen Geigen,
Musik kommt aus dem Weißen Haus,
Und vor Paris steht Mickey Maus.

We're all living in America...

Ich kenne Schritte, die sehr nützen,
und werde euch vor Fehltritt schützen,
und wer nicht tanzen will am Schluss,
weiß noch nicht, dass er tanzen muss!
Wir bilden einen lieben Reigen,
ich werde Euch die Richtung zeigen,
nach Afrika kommt Santa Claus,
und vor Paris steht Mickey Maus.

Refrain:
We're all living in America,
America is wunderbar.
We're all living in America,
Amerika, Amerika.
We're all living in America,
Coca-Cola, Wonderbra,
We're all living in America,
Amerika, Amerika.

This is not a love song,
this is not a love song.
I don't sing my mother tongue,
No, this is not a love song.

We're all living in America,
Amerika is wunderbar.
We're all living in America,
Amerika, Amerika.
We're all living in America,
Coca-Cola, sometimes WAR,
We're all living in America,
Amerika, Amerika.
