1. I finally overcame my fear of driving ...
Edited on Sun Jul-16-06 10:00 PM by CarolinaPeridot
got my license in May , got my car in June and now I am no longer agoraphobic - I found someone who likes going outdoors. I spent the entire day outside - a year ago I would not have done that.

We went to the Providence zoo, meet LynzM's dad for some quality time with the kiddo then back to her family's cottage nearish Misquamicut. I think everyone has some of those no comment things

6. This past week I was tricked into climbing a mountain...
When I was up in New Hampshire on vacation this past week, my uncle suggested we go for a short 3 mile round trip hike and we would get to see some nice scenery. Well I thought it would be a nice flat-ish (is that a word?) walk through the woods. Little did I know I would be climbing a 2800 foot mountain! Half way up my legs were burning and I thought I might have keeled over on the trail, but I couldn't turn back and ended up finishing the hike. Had I known I was going to go where I went, I probably would have stayed at the bottom. But it was a nice view so I guess it all evens out.

Here's a picture of where I was in the winter...I haven't loaded my pictures yet

The AMC lists it as an easy trail, but then again I'm not a mountain climber either http://www.hikenewengland.com/Willard980503.html

15. Um... er... Well, I watched a Bastille Day parade today .. and had some
squiggly lines of excited phosphors on my monitor, originated by some unknown person living I know not where torturing innocent little electrons because said unknown person was curious about what interesting things were done today....

Actually though, it's honestly hard for me to think of the most interesting thing. To me, almost everything I do, see or hear is interesting - so I suffer from interestingness overload

18. I met a new best friend.
My sistah from another mistah.

We're almost the same age, we have almost the same birthday by less than a week, we both have daughters name Hayley. She lives in the place where my son was born. We smoke the same brand of cigs, drink the same kinda booze, we both left our husbands/boyfriends the same week for the same reason last year (before we knew each other) and we've been helping each other get used to being alone.

It's all very cosmic, baby!

25. Interesting things I've done
Week: Came to an agreement to write a script for an indie film for a very-small production company based on a short story I wrote in college. Pitched another idea for a script to the same company.

Month: Spent my weekends taking care of my aunt's menagerie of cats and eating all her food while she is in Vermont. I'm housesitting. $50/day.

Year: Quit my job as a development coordinator, because the hours were not conducive, without having a new job lined up in order to be able to take care of my grandma.

26. You have really become quite demanding lately, bb.
Insisting that we ask you this, and tell you that. The strain is starting to show.

I don't know if you are trying to drive up your post count or just whatever. I'm not sure how much longer I can take it.

There is a natural order to things. All of this excitement is unnerving.

Please.

Made two 7-letter words, and beat him by almost 100 points.

40. It's all about rack management.
Edited on Mon Jul-17-06 12:35 AM by mgdecombe
Been reading Stefan Fatsis' book about Scrabble, "Word Freak", about tournament players. These are the only things I'm doing differently:

-I studied up on two-letter words, and memorized most of them.
-I stopped obsessing about the big letters, and try to get them out of my rack as soon as I can.
-I don't play an S for less than 30 points
-I don't play a blank unless I'm making a bingo (7-letter word)
-I manage my rack to try to get either RETINA or SATEEN. These 6-letter "stems" lead to a large variety of bingos, and are constructed of the most common letters in the bag.

Now you know my secrets. Go kick Sniffa's cute lil fesses.

38. HAZardous Waste OPerations and Emergency Response
Edited on Sun Jul-16-06 10:51 PM by XemaSab
It's about recognizing and dealing with hazards in the workplace. Not just hazardous waste, but confined space entry, properly marking machines and equipment that should not be turned on, electrical hazards, and all sorts of other fun topics. Of course, a lot WAS about hazardous waste and how to label it, read labels, move drums, put on a gas mask, choose the proper gloves, and all that good stuff.

What have you been up to?

You finished with school?

(edit: misspelled a word)

34. We went to the UCO Jazz Lab in Edmond OK...
and saw a band called the Wiseguys, a jam band featuring a guy who does goofy commercials for a Norman car lot. They did a lot of Rolling stones and Beatles stuff. We went with my office mom and her husband. It was fun. And the band was really good.
