Lots of flooding around our area (just north of Wilkes-Barre PA). Fortunately we live on top of a mountain with no creeks/streams/brooks/rivers in the immediate vicinity.
but Knuckledragger next door isn't all that fortunate. about the first 20-30 feet of the right-of-way is paved, the rest is dirt/gravel going up to our neighbors in the back.
the whole right-of-way slopes down to the road as does knuckledragger's back yard. last night the water was rushing down the right-of-way and knuckledraggers back yard like an overflowing brook. big gouges, washing away dirt/rocks/gravel into the road.
about 2am this morning - we heard the town crew out there with some machinery scraping/clearing the road. Too dark to see what it looks like at the moment.
I'm going to try to get some pictures when it gets light.
Some mudslides yesterday afternoon on RT 309 N heading into Dallas PA - road was closed off for a few hours while they cleaned that up. My partner is concerned about her workplace, and if she can get to work this morning.
According to weather reports we still have one more day of heavy showers/downpours. Most of the rivers here are expected to crest tomorrow and predicted to be anywhere from 10-15ft above flood stage. They are talking about AGNES-like flooding. (Hurricane Agnes - 1972

After Agnes - they did extensive work on dikes/levees but alot still needed to be done
my partner asked if I thought we would be declared a disaster area and would FEMA show up? Me: "FEMA? don't you mean BEMA - Bush Emergency Mis-management Agency?..."
