Great Movie Trailer "The Sinking of Japan (Nihon Chinbotsu)"
It's in Japanese, but the visuals are pretty cool. (New Japanese disaster/spectacle movie).

Enjoy.

1. Any chance of it hitting the US on DVD?
My daughter wants to see it in a double feature with the up-coming "Everyone but Japan Sinks."

5. Bummer - it looks fun.

But what is with the muddy film quality on so many Japanese movies? They obviously spent a lot of time and money on all the effects, but somehow the picture looks dark. I hope it looks better in the theater. I have 3 films to see at the theater this summer, all at the insistence of my kids - Chinbotsu, Superman Returns, and the latest Ultraman. :eyes:

6. I don't know--
maybe they like them that way.

The only other Asian blockbuster I've seen recently is a Korean film called "Shiri," which obviously doesn't mean the same thing as it does in Japanese. :-) It starts out as a normal embedded spy film and dissolves into a lot of over-the-top disaster movie effects. But it too looked very dark.

Maybe East Asians go for Film Murk instead of Film Noir.
