Tomato season perfect breakfast: B.E.L.T. sammich!
Edited on Tue Jun-20-06 10:50 PM by DemoTex
1. BACON: Crisp apple-wood smoked bacon.
2. EGG: One egg well cooked in olive oil, yolk broken (fried).
3. LETTUCE: Crisp,dry romaine leaves.
4. TOMATOES: From the garden, sliced thin.

Toasted whole grain bread, homemade mayonnaise, fresh OJ, and strong coffee finish the BELT menu. Know what I mean, Vern?

1. Sounds yummy! But I'd leave the yolk runny - pure heaven, I bet!
At the farmer's market last week, the pork vender guy was selling bacon designed for BLTs - it's about the size of a piece of bread. Genius of him! No more pieces of bacon falling out the sonsabitches.

BLTs are so wonderful, I want to squeal with delight when I have one. This summer, I'm going to try it with an egg - never thought of doing that.

9. Hard, broken yolk does not soak the bread
The harder you toast the bread for this great sammich, the less hard the fried egg has to be. Crunch being a factor!

10. But I would want the runny yolk running all over!
Delicious yummy runny goodness! Just like on pancakes - I love some easy over eggs sandwiched between the pancakes, with the yolks runnning all over. Yum!

6. But what kind of cheese? I'm thinking a sheep's bleu cheese,
or maybe an Old Amsterdam or aged Gouda on that one.

3. From reading your post, it's obvious
you wouldn't eat at the Olive Garden.

5. You know, if the Olive Garden breaded their chicken with corn flakes,
I'd go there.

But they don't, so the question is - what's the point?

That, and they don't have boiled pork ribs, either.

8. Olive Garden is like Taco Bell - the food is tasty and worth eating,
but it's not authentic.

Like so many "Chinese" restaurants, that serve what is, actually, purely American food and nothing actually found in China. But, still tasty!

14. Great comment on Bu$h's "visit" to the Baghdad "Green Zone."
"Bu$h going to the Green Zone and claiming to have gone to Iraq, is like eating at the Olive Garden and claiming to have been in Italy." Olberman?

13. When my friend first moved from Ohio to California,
she called me, horrified, to tell me that in California they put avocadoes on everything, even BLT's.
