Edited on Tue Jun-20-06 05:13 PM by Hissyspit
Me and little ol' Radio Lady. The last time I checked the post, she was the only one who had responded. I only just now checked my post asking where to eat in NYC this weekend: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=105&topic_id=5279955

And it was LOCKED!

Because of Olive Garden. :P

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I like to hang out in the village, too, haruka.
And I will try Danube, KurtNYC, if I can still get reservations.

As for pizza. I still prefer Lombardi's to John's, but I have not been in a while.

Everyone else. Sorry. Olive Garden is bland, bland, bland. Kitsch food.

...tick, tick, tick.

You guys is crazy. :7

2. So is Olive Garden in New York any good? I kid
Though I have to say I also came to the scene of the crime late and I never seen people get so uptight over a friggin restaurant. New York's a great city though that said.

6. It really makes no sense to eat at a chain restaurant when you go there
I always do some research so that I will go someplace special.

8. I totally agree
but I also know that some may not be very comfortable eating in the local restaurants without any kind of recommendation, thus they end up at the Olive Gardens and Applebees' of the world.

have any choice, plus it was FREEZING and everyone wanted to get inside somewhere to get warm. The food was awful.

9. Yeah I wouldn't recommend eating there
but the way some folk reacted was ugly. Next time I go to New York, I am gonna look for my grandmother's cousins and see if they're still around.

12. Agreed, when traveling I always like to try the unique local
spots. However, when I get the scanner hooked up properly, I'll share a picture with ya'll of youngest daughter when we went to Disneyworld. In my quest for the unique, untried, new experience for the kids, we were to eat at the Moroccan restaurant of Epcot Center. The child wanted SPAGETTI and nothing but, refused to even go into the restaurant, would rather starve, and I have a picture of her morose self sitting on the bench outside. As for the Moroccan experience, we recognized nothing and it wasn't very tasty, in our humble opinion, but the sitar music was great. Hence, traveling parents are required to go to the McDonalds and Olive Gardens of the world. By the way, that daughter is now my world traveler.

15. I have no kids, so I do a little research and find the unique places.
For instance, the place near Soho that served nothing but variations on peanut butter sandwiches. I bet your daughter would've liked that!

Would love to see the picture. :)

But then Matcom encouraged me, and you know what sort of bad influence he is.

14. I've not checked back for two days and look what happens.
I have a very rough teaching schedule for the next week or so, ending after about a month or so. This trip to see Bruce and the Seeger band in New Jersey, and head into Manhattan while I'm there is my reward for getting through the month. But I will find someplace noteworthy to eat, like the time I went to get soup from the "Soup Nazi" (it WAS really good soup).
