The juror of the show, who was from out of town, gave the piece 2nd place in the show and a $300 prize. All was well. The Humboldt Atrs Council director was in contact with Chuck's answering machine asking him to sign an addendum to their insurance to show the piece, which has a sales price of $10,000 which was more than their regular insurance usually covers.

The sponsor of the $300 award found out about the SUBJECT MATTER of the the ART which WON his award and withdrew it.

Then, the Humboldt Arts Council decided to still award the $300, but they had to pay for it themselves.

Finally, Chuck was told that the artwork was bubblewrapped and stuffed in a closet because the HAC/RAA was now refusing to show it or to permit it to be part of the show.

An article about this act of artistic censorship can also be found at http://www.suntimes.com/output/news/cst-nws-art12.html .Notice in the newspaper account that the attempt to equate political criticism with "hate speech" goes unchallenged by the newspaper. Removing a work of art into bubblewrap and a back closet for the sole reason that the piece expresses political dissent used to be considered "censorship".

I suppose if * is actually elected next time, maybe we can just dispense with that pesky First Amendment all together...

3. See, no that is okay with them, cause he still has the right to

do the art, just no one can see it, because some asswipes don't like it.
This is the paradox we have now with concentration of media ownership. Once something is judged unworthy of coverage on one network, the others will not bother to cover it either.

So, the millions upon millions of us who marched last Spring against the war are confied to places like this, where they hope we will stay out of sight, out of mind and forgotten.
