I was hit by a divebombing one of these

I was on the back patio, and saw two of these crawling on the side of the house.

I pull out my handy dandy sprayer, and the fucker flew right at me!!!!

I feel so dirty!!!

1. 2004
The year of the cicada. Those were common in Pennsylvania, and even more common when I moved to the Greater Cincinnati area. They like divebombing people too, but they're rather interesting critters. Sad to say, I probably won't see many more of them (at least around here) until 2021. Those things were awesome!

3. Agreed.
Our cicadas look way different. Almost outer space-ish.

5. it's a wood cockroach
i don't think that's a real name, i think it's a nickname, i have never seen them indoors at that stage so i thought it a different species from the palmetto bug but (google is my friend) apparently it is an intermediate life stage of the palmetto bug (giant cockroach)

6. Palmetto Bug. Official Florida Mascot.
They're quite sweet and friendly.

They make good appetizers.

8. I heard a story
told by some sewer workers in Florida.

They disturbed a nest of those things, and they were so many of them, they turned the sky black.

Big ugly flying nasty looking critters :puke:
