Every TV owner has to pay a licence for it, which funds the BBC. Its unique method of funding allows it to produce high quality programming, so we are told, although all we get is seven hours a day of reality TV gameshows and home improvement makeover shows. And there are no adverts at all, except for the five minutes of adverts the BBC shows advertising its own crap between every programme.
