2. Oh they are beautiful!!!
Are you in a semi-rural area or a suburb?

One night nearly six years ago, it was one week after the triplets were born, I was coming home from where my niece (the triplets' mother) lived at the time. We had celebrated my sister's birthday with carryout food, delivered since my niece was recovering from a Caesarean and having to visit the still-hospitalized trio to cuddle and feed them. (Happily, they all came home within a couple weeks of birth.)

But I digress... I was driving through a very pretty section of Chicago -- and in the city -- where this scenic sidestreet passes through a forest preserve. Crossing the bridge over a creek were a family of deer...the father, mother and three small deer. It was a really neat moment.

I stayed a distance back, not wanting to alarm them. They passed peacefully into another part of the forest.

4. We are on the outskirts of town
semi-rural I'd say. There are lots of deer that frequent our yard. It seems there are more this year though. I think because of some new construction going on within a mile of here, they've migrated to our area. I often can't get that close to them to take photographs. There is nothing more graceful than deer, they can soothe my ornery mood just by grazing in my yard. These two didn't seem to mind at all when I went outside to 'snap' their pictures.

I'm glad the triplets were all healthy !

7. When I get home from work at night
there is a small herd in the front yard. The bigger ones are usually laying down under the maple trees and the young ones are grazing, I come up the driveway very slowly, it's quite long, they lazily get up and wander off. I would hate to spook them and have them run onto the road just as a car came by:(

20. I had a dog that was scared of deer & Canadian Geese.
She was a total city dog, a rescued Shepherd/Pit. She was about 12 when we moved out to the suburbs. Her first deer experience involved her running into the woods and spooking up about 10 deer that were bedded down. She yelped and came running back with her tail between her legs.

Then with the geese, she didn't know they could fly or something. She goes chasing after a big flock and when they all took off honking and flying, she once again came running back with her tail between her legs, shaking and crying.

22. oh she's lucky the Canada Geese didn't
come after her. Geese can be so vicious and very protective of their space. We went to a blueberry farm bed and breakfast years ago when my son was a little gaffer, they had geese roaming around the driveway. I told Adam to stay in the car and mommy would get him out and to stay away from the birds, but did he listen? NO .. and the geese chased him all up the driveway biting his lil ass all the way .. I'm dying laughing here... it was a sight to see!!!

thanks for dropping by.

26. Yeah seriously, I was attacked by a goose once.

I was fishing and apparently it thought the dock belonged to it. The goose actually grabbed my pant leg. Fortunately, I wasn't wearing shorts.

Edited to add: It went away with a lot of yelling and the use of a fishing rod as a sword.

10. auntieA, they're beautiful!
You have a lovely yard, btw! Are you on the outskirts of a city, or in a rural(ish) area?

I wish I had my camera with me today...it was a perfect day, I was eating supper by the River Valley...lots of duck families swimming by, and a gopher who took a keen interest in me.

The little goofball was playing a game of hide and seek with me; he didn't flinch at me - as close as a foot away, but when people on the path 50 ft away went by, he ducked in for shelter. Perhaps because I was feeding him some of my chicken pot pie, he sort of warmed up to me. :D

13. aww even I'd warm up to someone sharing
a pot pie! We're sort of rural-ish. Not right in the city and on 2 acres. It's nice and peaceful. The yard isn't getting the attention it sorely needs though with all the inside work taking priority.

We're heading up to see family and friends in Ontario tomorrow. Think I might just have to stop and have a Harvey's. My husband loves their burgers too! Swiss Chalet tomorrow night with Dad and a childhood friend from Scotland whom I haven't seen in 40 years!!!

How are YOU doing my friend? I hope you're well. What did you decide about antibiotics?

akk .. email me LOL

posting incognito? He's always telling me that. We worry about the wildlife here, we've taken over so much of their domain. More and more we see them hit on the side of the road. it IS so sad.
