Puppy left in car dies-woman charged.

Laurie J. Balcerak, 49, of Hemlock, Livingston County, is accused of leaving a cockapoo puppy in her vehicle in direct sunlight, with the passenger window slightly cracked, according to Ontario County Sheriff's deputies. The vehicle was parked in the Wal-Mart plaza at the corner of Routes 5 and 20 and County Road 10 in Hopewell, Ontario County.
Balcerak reportedly left the animal to attend a movie at Canandaigua Theaters.

Deputies said a Wal-Mart truck driver was walking through the parking lot just before 6 p.m., heard the dog barking and called 911. By the time police and Humane Society officials arrived, the puppy had died, deputies said.

-------------------------------------------------------------
Why did the driver wait on Police? I'm sorry but if I see a dog in your car on a 92 degree day you are going to have to replace the window I bust to get your animal out. If you don't like it, sue me.

3. Two of my dogs insist on riding with me.
Larry and Moe will NOT go inside the house when I am going to the store. I have to carry them inside and they howl until I leave. I make it a policy to leave them at home when the temps get above 70 degrees. I never take them if I am going to be somewhere for any length of time either.

4. Same here.
Our dogs insist on going everywhere when we get in the car, and we're just not going to have that when it's above 70, unless one of us can stay in the car with them with the engine and the AC running. That doesn't happen often, but we DON'T leave our dogs in the car when it's hot.

Grr... That makes me furious and sick....

5. Poor pup!

The woman sounds like she is uneducated in how the heat affects children and animals in a car in such heat. I am sure she didn't purposely hurt the dog, but this happens EVERY summer with children and animals and there is no excuse.

6. Break the fucking window next time
The only thing more fucked up that the dumbass that killed that poor dog through her own idiocy is the moron who watched it die without breaking into the car to try to save it.

8. You know, it's actually very difficult to break a car window...
Everybody should carry a steel punch (like a nail set - what the hell do you call those things?) in case there's an emergency where you need to get out of or into a car.

10. Its not that hard to break a window.
Tire iron or rock will do nicely. No need to worry about being cut either- car windows are designed to shatter rather than splinter.

11. A centerpunch?
They can save your life if your car goes into water, too.

9. It is easy to think that in hindsight, but at least they did call 911!
It didn't save the pup unfortunately, but it has brought attention to the owner and to keeping animals safe from heat.

12. This pisses me off so much.
This stupid moron didn't realize that it was incredibly hot and you MIGHT want to leave your dog at home and like other posters have pointed out, why the fuck didn't this truck driver break the glass to rescue the dog?
