Had any strange dreams lately?
Whenever I sleep in, like on holiday weekends, I seem to have the strangest dreams.

My dream, this morning, was about California. I used to live there, but now live in the South. Try as I might to talk hubby into moving there, he just won't do it. So, in my dream, California was the worst place in the world! Traffic was bad, we could only afford a small apartment with electrical tape holding the carpet together, and there was no place to lie on the beach...instead, there were strange little buildings with lounge chairs and beautiful young ladies trying to tell me how to put on sun lotion! I'm telling you...I just don't understand why I'd have a dream like that. I love California! It kills me that I can't go back and live there.

Anybody else have any weird dreams they'd like to share?

1. I had a dream that I was in a gymnasium
and there was a giant copper catapult-type thing that we had to get ready before the guests showed up, or the music wouldn't sound right. And there was this guy there who I knew from elementary school, and he was going to tell my mom- who was there setting up the catapult- that I got sent to the office during math class. So I had to run up my livingroom staircase that appeared out of nowhere in the gymnasium and get to the top before the guy could say anything, and I also had to hit all the vertical railing-post things along the way.

Eh....go figure.

3. I dreamed about one of my dogs from 12 years ago
The other day for no reason. I always feel like it's a visit from them and in this case it was. I've had dreams periodically like I abandoned him when I did not, I don't know why I do this...in the dream I forget about him and then I remember him months later and go rushing back to see if he is alive. It is so strange. He was fenced in and well cared for the whole time I had him and I had to have him put to sleep after he started having seizures they couldnt' find a cause for. The last time he went down and couldn't get back up...it was really sad. I was actually really thrilled to get a visit from him after all this time. In this dream he was an Irish setter, though, in reality he was a Brittany Spaniel named Frank.

I have decided to start writing down my dreams as nothing in my conscious mind is helping me right now with my life struggles.

4. Good idea to write them down.
And, dreams are the mind's way of problem solving- so they say.

I'm curious: Did your dog, from 12 years ago, need to euthanized?

26. yes.
He was 14. He was having these intermittent seizures, like once every few months. The last time happened while I was at work. It was in July and he could not get back up and he lay in the sun for sometime until I got home and found him. He was very hot and thirsty when I found him and I was trying to scoop water into his mouth and he clamped down on my hand and split my fingernail open. The whole experience was awful from start to finish. I knew I couldn't take a chance on that happening again, so I had to let him go. It was really time, the vet said that he probably had liver failure.

6. Okay....Last night's was really fucking weird.
Edited on Sun May-28-06 10:04 PM by WritingIsMyReligion
I can only remember bits and pieces of it--it was a very long dream, or so it seemed, and my dreams are always deceptively complicated--but I remember that at one point in the dream, for some reason, my entire graduating class (over 250 people!) was in a theater (?) of some kind, watching some show--I don't know if this was a play, or a movie, or what. I think it was a movie.

Anyhow, I was sitting next to a (male) friend of mine, and it was fairly dark, and....yeah. He suggested to me that we, uh, make-out. I think I said something very weird like, "Well, sure--" awake WIMR's reply upon later reflection: What the FUCK are you thinking???!?? "--but everyone's watching."

To which he said something even weirder, along the lines of, "Well, that's the way rumors start, y'know"--meaning that this would be the way that everyone would know we were "together," that we would "prove" that we were a "couple."

Then things get fuzzy for a few seconds of dream-time--I can't exactly remember that bit--and then the next thing I know we're making out. Except we're lying down--sort of. As if the movie seats were reclined back. And we're facing each other, heads together--only he's somehow just a bit on top of me. (Awake WIMR: Seriously, WHAT. THE. FUCK.???) And somehow we're under a blanket--you know how things just appear out of nowhere in dreams.

(Okay, so the blanket thing actually makes sense, in a roundabout way--right before I fell asleep, my cat was bothering the hell out of me. The only way to get him to stop, short of throwing him bodily from the room, is to ignore him, which meant, for me, that I ducked under the covers and pulled them over my head--I think I fell asleep that way, which would explain why we were under a blanket in this part of the dream.)

I remember that the kissing seemed nice, but awkward for me--my friend is not particularly physically attractive, and he's even more sardonic than I am, I think. And my friend seemed a bit...distant. Cold. Calculating. (This even as we are "sucking face," as some people I know call it.) It was not particularly romantic, and yet in my dream I was desperate to kiss, so I didn't mind. And I remember that no one else in the theater seemed to notice us "going at it" under a blanket.

And then I woke up, and lay there for a long moment considering whether or not I was going insane.

In general: :wtf:

:scared::scared:

So in my dream I have a flashback in which men in green coats and Michael jackson are chasing me. Alll of the sudden I'm running at my bro and i think that if i run into hm , I will be safe. Well he ducks and Michael catches me. And I find myself engaged to him. Then all of the sudden my mom tells me to rememberwhen people thought I was dating Matt Lauer and that is where it ends. 27. I have a recurring dream.
It's nighttime, dark. I'm running along a cobblestone path or road. Don't know which. There is somebody, or more than one somebody chasing me at a slight distance. As I run I look ahead and up, and I see a stone bridge which arches over a waterway to my left. I veer off the path and onto unpaved ground, toward the canal. Footsteps behind me. I reach the edge of the canal and look down. It is a few feet to the water and I jump, not dive, in. As I hit the water I feel a bullet enter my back, right between the shoulder blades. There's no pain; just a shuddering shock and a numbness. I am at this point sort of spread-eagled, facing down. The canal has a slow current and it barely moves my body along. I float to the bottom. My eyes are open and the last thing I see are the stones on the bed of the waterway. I know I'm dead.

32. Reminds me of that Simon and Garfunkel song...
In restless dreams I walked alone
Narrow streets of cobblestone,
'Neath the halo of a street lamp,
I turned my collar to the cold and damp
When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon light
That split the night
And touched the sound of silence....

68. Past life experience?
I had a similar recurring dream as a child, though I haven't had it in years. There were minor variations, but the gist of it was running through darkness being chased by something, with no one to help me. Sometimes it was a fair, sometimes a strange city, but my earliest dream in this theme (and the first dream I remember having in my life at about age 4) was of running through a jungle or wooded area at night being chased by a black panther. I could feel its breath as it got close behind me, and then I felt it leap and bite my neck, at the nape. It woke me up, but I could still feel the teeth in my neck, so I reached back and pulled the "panther" off of me, and then the feeling stopped. I was so freaked out and so convinced that something had actually been biting me that I had to check under everything in my room and check the window to make sure a snake or something hadn't gotten inside.

I haven't even remembered dreams for a while so this was un-nerving.

I dreamed I was in the southwest driving to Ohio with my entire extended family and we stopped for food. Out of nowhere were hundreds of people asking for a ride out of that area, banging on the car grabbing at our arms and legs becoming more and more violent. I had my husband take the elderly and children away with the other two drivers helping and I was to drive someone else's car with two people who had no where to sit in the other cars.

We went to get supplies from my mothers house as she had left with my husband. I got to the front door and there was a shotgun blast where the door knob used to be, I started to turn to leave when a woman appeared pointing the shotgun at me. She told me that this was now her property and as she started to pull the trigger I woke up.

It made my heart race. :scared:

58. That is scary. It reminds me of a movie I saw once
One of those end-of-the-world movies...the one with the radioactive blast that kills all but a few people, including a group inside a cave. They traveled around by car and ran into a few people who also had some mysterious DNA which allowed them to survive also. Did you ever see it? Sorry I don't remember the title.

63. Oh, and then there was my dream last night, in which I got to
experience the various stages of the evolution of the dinosaurs--only at a super-hepped up speed, up close! It was actually hella freaky. One second, deep in the ocean with the single-celled organisms, the next second, swimming around with the primitive fish with teeth, the next, on the shore with some scary-looking, primitive turtles, then running with the stegosaurs, then the commet that caused that big extinction (Geology 101 and 102 were a long time ago--sorry). It was scary. And gee, what do you suppose was on my mind before I went to sleep?

70. I had a dream last night I was interviewing Bruce Willis.
I was a reporter and I was interviewing Bruce and asked a question about his marriage to Demi Moore. In the dream, he said to me, "It was great. She was just a good friend and we didn't really fit together, but you know, when the sex is good, you can live a lot of years like that. One day we both decided we needed more than that."

I'm not exactly a Bruce Willis fan and I have no idea about his life or marriage, but I know what my subconscious was saying nonetheless.
