You know the one: "Are the stars out tonight?
I can't tell if it's cloudy or bright"

Havocdad is going at this like the search for the holy grail and I am having senile attacks. There will be no sleep in this house till he finds out who it was that had the big hit of this song way back. Not Johnny Mathis. More like the Platters or some group like that.

Help me out here, trivia DUers. This is like a plague on my house.....

Muchas gracias.. shoo bop shoo bop.....

15. Everybody did a recording of it. Even Homer and the doughnuts
I knew it was an old song, but Jolson did a recording of it. Didn't know it was that old though.

18. well..............
....Al Jolson introduced the song. Probably in the 1930s. I'm too lazy to look for the discography notes right now. It was a huge hit.

21. Definitely the Flamingos
At least the version most think of that was on theAmerican Graffiti soundtrack. A google search did turn up version by many including Art Garfunkle, Sinatra and more.

"I Only Have Eyes For You," The Flamingos

My love must be a kind of blind love
I can't see anyone but you
Sha bop sha bop

Are the stars out tonight
I don't know if it's cloudy or bright
I only have eyes for you dear

The moon may be high
But I can't see a thing in the sky
I only have eyes for you

I don't know if we're in a garden
Or on a crowded avenue

You are here and so am I
Maybe millions of people go by
But they all dissappear from view
And I only have eyes for you
-------

Do y'all know how to google search lyrics?? It really works great. You don't even need to know the name of the tune or the artist, just 4 or 5 words of the lyrics in parenthesis followed by the word lyrics. Feel the power.

23. shoo bop shoo bop
Hello, stranger
(ooh) It seems so good to see you back again
How long has it been?
(Ooh, seems like a mighty long time)
(shoo-bop, shoo-bop, my baby, ooh)
It seems like a mighty long time

Oh-uh-oh, I my, my, my, my
I'm so glad
You stopped by to say "hello" to me
Remember that's the way it used to be
Ooh, it seems like a mighty long time
(shoo-bop, shoo-bop, my baby, ooh)
It seems like a mighty long time

Oh-ahh-uh-oh
If you're not gonna stay
(Ooh) Please don't treat me like you did before
Because I still love you so a-a-although
It seems like a mighty long time
Shoo-bop, shoo-bop, my baby, ooh
It seems like a mighty long time

now you gotta sing Barbara Lewis back at havocdad...

shoo bop,
dp

25. It is an old song. I believe it goes back to the 1930s.
I think the best version is by the Flamingoes.
