What would you do with $50,000?
I mean, I'm not going to give it to you or anything. Just a starter question. :)

It's not a million dollars, it's not a hundred. What would you do, honestly? And go ahead and be me: I'd put it somewhere boring, plan for the future, etc. etc. :boring:

2. Down payment on a house, probably.
So that we could afford to get a house we really liked, as opposed to one that "works for now."

Barring that, pay off school debt, and take a trip to Europe, and stash the rest in investments.

10. If it's a cap gains free $50k
I'd be very cautious on investing it. The housing market sucks, the DJ sucks. Probably put it in a conservative global fund and wait.

However, for fun, were I rich, and it didn't matter, $50k would go towards a great big stage, and Rise Against opening for the Beastie Boys on my birthday.

36. Pay off debts, give my daughter a honeymoon
My daughter is paying for her own wedding and being eminently sensible about it which I'm so proud of. No starting off married life in debt for her. So I'd give her and her fiance a nice honeymoon and bank anything left over.

45. Clear up all my debts and get a nicer car.
Maybe a Caliber. (Of course, that's my plan now, but it's going to take a bit longer to get there the way I'm doing it.)

Heck, I'd still have almot $20K left over after all that, so maybe I'd invest in Exxon.

Or invest it in something else...but I wouldn't go nuts. Nice and boring.
