Poll question: Does size matter?
Edited on Sun Apr-30-06 06:33 PM by flvegan
All this talk of "shoe size quandry" and those 80 lb racoons, makes me wonder if it really is all about the size of something being spoken about. Also leads me to wonder that if size does matter, how so? I mean is it the weight, length, girth? Is it all subjective? I mean, I know that when I get a shot, I want the smallest needle there is, so size DOES matter.

So what say you, DU? Does size matter?

5. It's not the size of the boat
it's the motion of the ocean, size queens be damned. ;-)

7. But, if caught in doldrums, isn't a bigger sail important? Or
a bigger engine? And what if you're in a submarine? Wouldn't one want a great big submarine with huge torpedo capacity to be going down in that ocean?

Oh, yeah.

11. That's not what the 69 polled folks from the 69th Corps of Sub Seamen
said.

And yes, it was a scientific poll, thank you.

This is a PG rated, honest-to-goodness poll question. I don't see how the mods (love you guys and gals! smooch!) could/would see it otherwise.

15. Actually
(having read your situation, too)

Assholes get assholes. Sorry, but it seems true here. Yeah, that sucks, but you know, I'd rather know that an asshole is just that before I put a shitpile of time in with that asshole. I'd rather ditch an ungenuine possibility.

I wouldn't want to be an asshole that gets 'em all, nor would I want an asshole gotten by all the other assholes.

Size of your ego is important. The smaller, the better.

12. You know what they say....Big Feet...
...hard to buy shoes...

I have size 14's and most places stop carrying in size 12 or 13. I usually have to special order shoes which makes me feel like the reject. So don't tell me size doesn't matter. I haven't been able to walk into a shoe store and buy off the rack since Junior High.

My wife never complains about my shoe size though.

18. How tall are you? I mean, is it all proportionate?
I can't buy off the rack either. My problem is with suits (wider shoulders, bigger arms and thighs) but I can feel your dilemma having larger than average feet.

The wife comes first, when it comes to shoe size judgment, eh? She should always come first.

32. I hear ya brother!
I'm 6'6" 190lbs. I wear 14 shoes, a 36" inseam and need medium tall shirts. I hate shopping! Shoes are getting better, but there are still lots of brands that stop at 12-13. And for pants and shirts, forget it! I pretty much have to order anything I want to actually fit

14. of course size matters
if your goal is fuel efficiency, would you buy the Hummer? No. Why? Because size matters. If you find the perfect pair of shoes but the store doesn't have your size do still you buy them? No. Why? Because size matters.

Regardless of what we're looking for in life, it's ok to want the perfect fit. Size matters. :)

It's all relative, hence, "the perfect fit" for the situation.

Well stated.

31. Combination of genetics
And ones personal taste, wouldn't you think?

I'm alway fustrated when I'm doing serious second hand shopping and I find a pair of beautiful shoes that are a women's size 13. Since my size is 8 or 9. Now I know there are women with size 13 feet, but I had no idea that apparently so many have such maddeningly good taste in shoes. And why are they donating them to second hand stores? Just tossing money away. I think I'm jealous........
