Ever use a church key?
(Thanks to Arwalden for the inspiration)
What's a "church key"?
If you know the answer it REALLY dates you.
;-)

7. If you dropped a can of beer, did you tap on the top
with the church key for a bit to get the foam down?
We did. Seemed to work.
I have no idea why.

Their sentimental value outweighs their usefulness these days though. ;)

16. I have a "Canada Dry" wall mount bottle opener from the old Kings' Inn
Motel at LaGuardia.
What a rathole that place was.
But cheap.
I used to stay there when I was commuting to New York to fly with TWA.

The last time I was there I heard the city had bought the place to use for indigent housing.
I wanted a souvenir, so I unscrewed the bottle opener from the wall in the bathroom.
It had about 18 coats of paint on it.
I cleaned it up and it looks pretty nifty in my bar.

18. Yes, and stop saying it dates me. Question for you
Edited on Sat Apr-29-06 06:56 PM by Gormy Cuss
I'can't help the fact that I was raised by a mother and grandmother who used old fashioned things.

:D

Okay, so it dates me.

On edit: Ever live in a house with locks that required the old fashioned keys that WERE like church door keys?

21. Sure and I wish I had one
I keep thinking i should buy one. I use the side of the rotary can openener and it's not as nice. Plus if I have to use a can of broth or condensed milk or evaporated milk or something I'd rather shake it, use the pointy side, and pour than open the whole top off.

32. It's a secular humanist temple opener.
That's what my husband and I agreed to call it after he objected to the term 'church key,' saying he believed in the separation of church and beer.
