Does anyone else here have a "cop cat"?

Every time any of the other cats act a little too rowdy, Imhotep will get his old butt up and go put himself directly between the offending parties. He just did it again to separate Neutrino and Evie.

What is THAT about????

1. I consider my cat a diplomat, not a cop.

My fluffy brown tabby has walked between and then sat down between two cats to stop them from staring at each other, you know the stare that precedes a fight.
He's a sweety and gets along with everyone.
I wish I had his diplomatic skills.

2. I think mine believes he's a sheep dog.

He'll herd the dogs, usually just down the hall, it's pretty funny to watch. B/F my other cat was put down, one of our dogs would always go and break up the cat fights.

3. We have cats who, when reprimanded by ME, will go and

"attack" another cat..and then look at me..as if to say "Look what you made me do".

i've got 4, since my cats tend to "colonies" in seperate areas of the house.


not to seem a smart ass (but you're right i am; and i preach too, dammit) but they're actually called "alpha"s and are usu male, 'cept 1 of mine is a female feral.

it's common in cat "colonies" and among the big cats that group, but most people don't see it since "domestic" cats tend to be more solitary y most "normal" people have less than 3.

Any time the cats are fighting, or in a spot where they aren't supposed to be, the dog will come and bump me on the leg with his nose and bring me over to see the problem.

9. I have a cop/tattle dog....

Sometimes when the cats are fighting, the dog will intervene and pluck the aggressor from the fray to divert attention - the male cat happens to like being tossed about by the dog so then it all turns into a lovefest.

It's strange but fun to watch :)

he doesn't like 2 (2 in particular) to be in the same room and will whine if they are. They made bad noises at each other a couple yrs ago and his little brain remembers.
