*sigh* Thats what I get for living somewhere with a pretty view.

I hope I don't have to sandbag. Or evacuate.

1. You live on the Red River?
It's usually the one to really flood - even with the floodway. Hope everything is okay.

7. According to the Winnipeg Sun (yeah I know)
River levels start to fall
By STAFF

The flood waters of 2006 are slowly backing down.

But Alf Warkentin, the province's senior forecaster, said Winnipeggers shouldn't count on dry land any time soon.

"We still have a lot of water outside Winnipeg," he said during a media conference call yesterday. "(The Red River) will be up for several weeks in the 17- to 18-foot range."

The Red's current Winnipeg height was about 18.14 feet yesterday morning, down one-tenth of a foot from Friday.

In 1997, the Red crested at 24.5 feet in downtown Winnipeg, where it has a normal summer level of about seven feet.

The river dropped one-third of a foot at Emerson and an inch or two from Morris to the north between Friday and yesterday afternoon.

"By the end of next week, we should be looking at declines close to half-a-foot per day," said Warkentin.

I remember, when I lived in Winnipeg, the flooding was sooo bad one year. Sturgeon Creek overflowed over Ness and Portage. I was living on the west side of it, and going to the U of W. Had to go out to the Perimeter and around to get to school. What a mess! I feel your pain, GinC!

17. Or if you need a place to crash
We can make some room down here for you. If you don't mind a cat or two leaping on you at 4:00 AM, that is. :silly:
