Tom Cruise vows to eat placenta after birth
18 April 2006
EXCLUSIVE: TOM CHEWS
Mission Impossible star Cruise vows to eat placenta after birth
By Patrick Mulchrone

TOM Cruise yesterday revealed his latest bizarre mission... to eat his new baby's placenta. Cruise vowed he would tuck in straight after girlfriend Katie Holmes gives birth, saying he thought it would be "very nutritious".

The Mission Impossible star, 43, said: "I'm gonna eat the placenta. I thought that would be good. Very nutritious. I'm gonna eat the cord and the placenta right there." It is the latest in a series of increasingly strange outbursts from Cruise in the run-up to the birth.

He has claimed the baby, due any day, will be delivered in total silence. The Top Gun star also insisted he "sensed" fiancee Katie was pregnant before she told him....

4. It was a big deal in the sixties
We all witnessed births, and then took placentae outside and buried them.

Eating them is a tribal thing, but NOT IN BEVERLY HILLS.

Cruise is nuts.

because there are a "few" that have placenta parties (absolutely not a norm) doesn't mean it is not crazy. are you kidding. eating the inner parts of a womans body. eeeeewww. ya crazy. ya strange. i dont care about the fringe that does it. the cannibals are few in number, but they exist, i still call it eeeeew.

been more than a few. I've seen it on TeeV and people in Europe do it.

So if you're gonna think Cruise is CRAZY it shouldn't be just because of that alone.

45. Probably more than you know
Hubbard was involved in a magick ceremony with Jack Parsons (q.v.), a crowleyite, to use ritual sex to create a magickal child. Since it's rumored Scientology has absorbed significant fractions of OTO sex magick (and science fictionized it) I wouldn't be surprised at all if this pregnancy was organized by the CoS for ritual reasons.

All the ranch dogs around here get the worst gas during calving season when there are lots of nutritious bovine placentas to feast on. Oh, and we get huge numbers of sea gulls here in eastern Montana during calving season too. Might be part of that green house gas problem - gulls with gas gliding in the atmosphere.

46. Yup, Cruise said it.............as a joke
He was talking to Diane Sawyer and she asked him about some Internet rumors, like the silent birth, and such. I'm not sure if she asked about the placenta, or he volunteered to dispel the rumor. "I'm gonna eat the placenta. I thought that would be good. Very nutritious. I'm gonna eat the cord and the placenta right there." He started laughing, and said of course not, he didn't know how the rumors got started.

I guess none of you saw the interview, being mostly Tom Cruise haters.

65. The man is insane
Obviously, Katie Holmes is not the brightest girl of the bunch, to hook up with Cruise. But then again, most of the scientologist celebrities are not the brightest people on earth-John Travolta, Kirstie Alley, Tom Cruise.

Scientology is such a scam, and it does have a dangerous side to it. Charles Manson used a lot of the ideas he stole from scientology, which he studied in prison, to manipulate his followers into killing a bunch of people.

I don't trust any religious organization that doesn't have any controversy within. Every church, conservative or liberal, has some controvery at some point that people express disagreement regarding. Scientologists all believe the exact same thing. If they express an opinion different from the church's they usually recant it quickly, like Isaac Hayes did.

Edited on Tue Apr-18-06 12:10 PM by Monkey see Monkey Do
May 1998

Britain's Channel 4 has been severely reprimanded for a programme in which a woman's afterbirth was served up as paté.

The Broadcasting Standards Commission said the episode of TV Dinners, shown in February, breached a taboo and "would have been disagreeable to many".

The presenter, Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall, devised the recipe with mother Rosie Clear for a party to celebrate the birth of her daughter Indi-Mo Krebbs.

The placenta was fried with shallots and garlic, flambéed, puréed and served to 20 relatives and friends as a pate on focaccia bread.

Mrs Clear's husband Lee had 17 helpings but the other guests were less enthusiastic.

Placenta Recipes

There are several sumptuous recipes around so that you can enjoy cooking and eating your placenta;
this one is for roasting it:-

Work on the basis that each placenta weighs approximately 1/6 of the baby's weight. To prepare a placenta, cut the meat away from the membranes with a sharp knife. Discard the membranes.

Roast Placenta

1-3lb fresh placenta (must be no more than 3 days old)
1 onion
1 green or red pepper (green will add colour)
1 cup tomato sauce
1 sleeve saltine crackers
1 tspn bay leaves
1 tspn black pepper
1 tspn white pepper
1 clove garlic (roasted and minced)

Method

(Preheat oven to 350 degrees)
Chop the onion and the pepper & crush the saltines into crumbs.
Combine the placenta, onion, pepper, saltines, bay leaves, white and black pepper, garlic and tomato sauce.
Place in a loaf pan, cover then bake for one and a half hours, occasionally pouring off excess liquid.
Serve and enjoy!

Sounds yummy!!

there are recipes.

Unusual, but not crazy.

also, the placenta has been known to aid the mother, after giving birth, in helping contractions that bring the uterus back to shape. Kinda like a shot of pitocin to help stop bleeding- we just do it with a manufactured replacement rather than the natural thing. That is one reason mammals eat the afterbirth instinctually. (also to remove any smells of the birth to thwart predators) Some also think eathing the placenta helps with milk production immediately after birth.

72. Many. Relax, everyone. KATIE ISN'T EVEN PREGNANT.
And I'm one of the so-called "pillow watchers" who doesn't believe she ever was. Sure, Tom. Eat that placenta. After doing all those home ultrasounds, you should be a reeeaaalll expert at all of those pregnancy related things. Yep, Tom loves vagina. Mmmm-Hmmmm.
