I really don't like coloring Easter Eggs.

We always do this and then they just sit in the fridge getting wet and nasty. Plus, those Easter Baskets...cheap, cheap, cheap, with their plastic toys and awful tasting candy. All this candy is taped to the basket and most of the basket is empty. Then you have to deal with that fake grass that's just as bad as Christmas tree needles. I think I'll just make my own basket with healthy food and a toy or project my child really wants. As for grass: get some cheap green construstiong paper and put it in the shredder, presto...Easter grass and good for the environment since paper breaks down eaisly. Stressful, that's what Easter is.

8. I had a Vietnam Vet neighbor with

serious emotional issues, but he liked me. So when I was a kid on Easter, he'd give me eggs. Just regular eggs, with the names of colors written on them in black marker.

He was cool.

Fill them with confetti. (Or with those little dots you get from cleaning a stapler.) Then paste a bit of colored tissue over the hole.

Breaking them over the heads of friends & family is an old Mexican tradition.

15. I don't especially care for it either, but the kids love it.

The eggs don't go to waste, though - we love deviled eggs and egg salad!

My kids have really nice Easter baskets we use over and over, year to year. I don't buy those prefilled plastic baskets. I always use paper Easter grass instead of the plastic stuff (that is WORSE than Christmas tree needles!)

The kids get some good candy and some stickers or something like that, and that's it.

16. Instead of doing the basket thing, why not get the kids a baby chick or

baby rabbit? Just kidding. Although one year my kids got an easter hamster. I actually loved doing the egg coloring thing. I would prick a hole on both ends of the egg and blow the contents out. Someone told me that if you don't what to touch your lips to the shell to use a blow dryer.

Several years ago the kids said they didn't want to color the eggs anymore. They had gotten too old for it :( I envy you right now....

18. I always made my kids' baskets

I'd use something for a container that they could use afterwards - a beach bucket or something like that. Then I'd fill it with stuff I picked out - some candy but also things like crayons and coloring books or small toys.

Unbelievable!!!! 8 years ago I was dying easter eggs with my children, we were going to be late for church and the children were telling me to hurry up. I had a dyed egg in my hand and it was dripping, so I blew on it. Miraculously, an image of Jesus appeared on the egg! I placed the egg in a curio cabinet and it has remained in perfect condition for eight years. It is beautiful and time to give up so it can grace someone elses home.
