2. If you want to, do it.

I sort by genre, then artist, then album. That's just in my hard drive's folder structure though, not in iTunes. Only thing I use iTunes for is copying shit to my iPod. I don't even rip my cds with iTunes. I use CDex for that.

3. I rip with CD-DXtractor, too. It's the best.
But I now have my entire music collection on iTunes, because of the handy filing system that corrects spelling errors, etc.

Plus, for my tin ear, the AAC format is just as good as MP3, and takes up less space.

I still play music on my PC via WinAmp, though. I prefer its user-friendliness to iTunes, and it uses less RAM.

4. As far as formats go, I always rip to OGG...
Except when I'm ripping it to put on my iPod. Lousy apple and its disregard for OGG users. x(

5. As long as your iPod has enough space for it
I ripped my collection which comes out to 9GB in the end. That means some sort of Video iPod, as the Nanos do not have enough space for me unless they offer 10GB minimum.

6. I've ripped a ton of Mozart to iTunes to play at work
Can't use the internet at work to listen to music and I don't have an iPod. But I did find an available 120gig external hard drive to usb to my work PC. Using AIFF (sounds like the original CD)I've loaded all of Mozarts symphonies, piano and violin concertos, and string quintets and quartets to my external hard drive. Next will be all of Haydn's symphonies. and I still have loads of space left for more. It's really great to not lug around a bunch of CDs!
