Do they order the full-screen (pan-n-scan) versions ON PURPOSE?

3. Because they're assholes patronized by conservative philistines
One of my favorite things I heard when I managed a video store was "I hate letterboxing! I can't see as much of the movie!" They are the typical Walmart customers.

Widescreen is not popular with the masses.
