2. 2 days without a smoke?
Sure you can make it. I went 7 months without a smoke. I also put on 30 pounds. I now smoke again. I figured it's either die of obesity or smoke related illness so I chose to light up and enjoy. Your mileage may vary.

We've made it this far...it's almost here...two days. Actually, more like 37 hours. LESS that two days.

And I've been banned from my son's games.

*sigh*

It ain't me, I'm tellin' ya...it ain't me.

12. Hey...
Is NOT. It is NOT my fault. They lost the game I DIDN'T go to, too. Granted they didn't get mercied that game. And they didn't make any errors.

But...it's not me. It's not it's not it's not it's not it's not...

:hide:

I hope.

(And no, matter of fact, I didn't. It's late and I'm about eight steps behind here...so make that 36 hours.

Even better.)

22. He's played both spring and summer ball
Since he was in the eighth grade. He's a junior now.

They've lost every game I've been to. Every. Single. One. I haven't even had to attend the whole game...even if I'm just there for the first few innings...they lose.

They win if I'm not there. Last year they went something like 11-3. I was only able to make 3 games (of course, I was banned after the second one).

I AM crushed. Heartbroken. Desolate. But...for the most part it's not TOO bad. I'm usually working when he's playing, anyway.

30. I still swear it isn't me.
I mean...this is the same kid who blames his slump towards the end of last year on a change in his morning routine (not being able to listen to the right music while he was getting ready for school).

The same kid who has to wear number 4...or a multiple of four...or numbers that'll total four....

It's not me. Nope. I refuse to accept it.

But...after the last game I went to...I guess I'll humor him.

37. Funny thing about superstitions
If you believe they work, they do.

Or, as Crash Davis so eloquently put it, "Never fuck with a streak!"

39. Oh, I know!
I will never forget the time I was with one of my more controversial witch friends (who liked to antagonize Christians). He was in a fairly interesting "discussion" of theology with this poor little Christian woman, and finally she gave up and pulled out her crucifix, apparently trying to scare him (as if he were a vampire). He did not miss a beat and replied, "You truly have to believe in that for that to work."

Her jaw dropped and she turned white as a sheet.

Personally I do not like to antagonize anyone, but this person is someone who revels in shock value.

I myself can only tolerate college sports, the energy level is much better. Better than watching millionaires scratch themselves. I would rather watch athletes play with the goal to be millionaires.

42. *'s gonna throw out the first pitch again this year
In Cincinnati, though. White House says he probably won't be available to do it in D.C. for the Nats' home opener on the 10th. I guess they figure Cincinnati's safer for him.

45. Oh, great
Why the fuck can't he just throw out the first pitch for the Rangers or the Astros or something and leave the rest of us alone? The excitement's s'posed to be about the game...about the brand-new season. Not about the secret service swarming all over the place and you Know that's all they're gonna talk about for the first inning or two anyway.

GodDAMmit.

But...in the end...even that can't stop my fuzzy tingles. I refuse to allow it.

:D

Always helps to have some hitters on the team. Gimme a dependable leadoff hitter and others who can get on base and a few who can hit for power. Never hurts to know how to actually hit that little white ball.

I'm a Cubs fan because I visited my grandparents in Chicago
as a child every summer.

They lived within walking distance of Wrigley Field. Damn,
I miss those days!

I've been a baseball fan for as long as I can remember, in part, I think, because my mom and my materal grandfather have been life-long fans. The three of us used to get together, when Grandpa was still alive, and watch 2-3 baseball games on a Saturday afternoon. I miss those days too.

51. I am not going to the home opener this year
since I always take my son, and our home opener is on a Tuesday (I do not leave games early, so extra inning game would mean a terrible day for my son at school.)

I do have tickets to the first game of the second home series (against the Yankmes).
