1. I've fiddled with it a bit..
.. truth is, it is a PITA to really do much with the styles. For example, if you want to change to a dark color, you have to make every text a lighter color (or just let it be unreadable, which is what about half the people on the net seem to do :)).

Changing all the link colors is a PITA, but you basically have to change them all if you want to go to a dark background. And sometimes certain link text colors are controlled by the browser itself, further complicating things.

There are several "sections" and most are labelled with comments. You could just go to town and keep working until you get it all worked out.

Tip: the board doesn't offer a "put the default back" option as far as I can tell. So just to be safe, when you open the style text window - click inside it then type Ctrl-A to select all the text and then Ctrl-C to copy it to your clipboard. Then open a text or html editor (new file) and Ctrl-P (or Edit-Paste) the virgin styles into a file and save it. Then you can always just reverse the procedure to restore the styles if you get down the road and can't fix something you broke :)

3. Actually, it's CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) that controls the appearance
I'd go check out a site like www.w3schools.com for info on CSS.

CSS is syntactically different from HTML, and has its own rules and guidelines (and quirks). Thankfully there's a lot of info on the web about CSS so that should help.

good luck

8. No problem.
That's actually another DUer's (Omphaloskepsis') del.icio.us page, he sent me the link a few months back when I was learning CSS. I found it very useful.

9. Do you mean the headline
of the title of your journal (which is now Whoa_Nelly's Journal)? This you easily can edit if you click on 'Edit Journal' and fill in the first box after 'Journal name.' It's right at the top.

The other things are a bit thougher to work through, because you have to define the css for all three columns that are used. But send me a PM and I'll see what I can do. ;)
