BREAKING: Dana Reeve has died of lung cancer at 44 yrs old!
<snip>
Dana Reeve, who won worldwide admiration for her devotion to her "Superman" husband, Christopher Reeve, through his decade of near-total paralysis, has died of lung cancer at the age of 44.

She was a woman of incredible heart and courage. I had a lot of respect for her.
Rest in peace, Dana O8)

1. A light has gone out of the world.
She had a 1000 watt smile. This is so sad.

RIP, Dana.

4. Saw that this morning - very sad
The article I read said too that 1 in 5 women diagnosed with lung cancer have never smoked a cigarette. I found that to be an incredible statistic.

How awful for their son who is only 13, I believe - he's had to live with far too much trauma already.

5. I've been thinking about their son all morning. Only 13. It's a huge loss.
My heart goes out to their whole family, but especially their precious boy.

9. My best friend here in VA used her dad as her doctor.
I feel so for that poor man. First his wife, now his daughter.

And of course, that precious little Will. Heartbreaking.

8. I saw that too
at 44 it seems almost like childhood cancer to me. Some of the 1 in 5 are probably married to heavy smokers or working with heavy smokers. Not true in her case though. I am almost 44 myself, and I am neither ready to die, nor ready to lose my parents.

6. That's so hard.
Their son is so young. I couldn't imagine leaving my son alone. It kills me to think about it.

7. I saw that as soon as I turned my computer on.
Lordy, it seems like there is so much death lately, not only of celebrities, but of family and friends of DUers.

I am sad at Dana's passing, and I too have been thinking of her and Chris's son. What a tremendous loss for him.
