I like the original Crash
With James Spader and Holly Hunter.

I haven't seen the new one, so I can't tell if it's better or not. Though, it might make an interesting evening of compare and contrast with two movies of the same title.

8. Loved it
I was a big fan of Ballard's writing and was pleased with the movie adaptation.

Edited on Mon Mar-06-06 12:49 PM by Lautremont
the one with Jose Ferrer and the demonically possessed car. It was darn good. I also like the Cronenberg one. Funny how the Crash that won Best Picture is actually the third best movie called Crash ever made.

(edited to fix a typo)

6. Yes, it is
It's one that most people don't think a lot about, but it does exist.

Mostly what moved me about it was the willingness to show sexuality of people who have been injured and have scars, esp. patricia arquette.

7. you got that right, arquette seemed to personify the...
maso-erotic (not a word prolly but you catch it ;-)), and that vahn dude willing to crack up a sparse view remaining porche boxers just to get 'the groove on'...very odd x(

had to watch the beginning a couple times over cause it finally looked like the spader character was 'chosen' = crashed into, and brought into that maso-erotic fold, again very strange

9. I thought you were gonna say Magnolia.
Edited on Mon Mar-06-06 01:23 PM by primate1

(It's basically the same type of film as Magnolia, except with a focus on race relations, in case you didn't get the joke, haha.)

Cronenberg's "Crash" is a very very different film. Honestly, I wasn't a fan. I've always considered it one of Cronenberg's weaker offerings.

10. Yeah, that was a trippy movie, I must admit.
Cronenberg is a real freakazoid.

12. Loved the book by JG Ballard. That and "Concrete Island" are faves.
So since I loved the book, I couldn't like Cronenburg's movie (same with Naked Lunch, of course).

Some good jerking material in the uncut version, though.
