44. Can you name the thirteen original states?

I guess the correct answer to this question is "Yes".

5. West Virginia was not a state until 1864
Prior to that, it was part of Virginia.

8. I'm pretty sure we're a state here in Connecticut
Commonwealths are Mass, VA, Kentucky and I think one or two others?

The 13 original colonies which comprised the freshly declared United States
were:

Virginia
New Jersey
Massachusetts
New Hampshire
Pennsylvania
New York
Maryland
Connecticut
Rhode Island
Delaware
North Carolina
South Carolina
and Georgia


Probably this is what they mean; original colonies which became states.
