What ethnicity is Paula Abdul?

I am just wondering. Abdul sounds like an Indian name, but I am not sure. My friend asked me if Paula was Indian or not, and I got to thinking. I really don't know.

8. "Abdul" is actually Arabic in origin

It's a corruption of the word "abd'Allah", which translates into "servant of God". However, it (and its variants, like "Abdi") have been used as a given name in many societies that were influenced by Arab and Islamic culture.

How/why do I know this stuff? I don't know.
