Kinky Friedman running for Gov. of Texas, Kinky Friedman and the Texas...
Jew Boys is a were are? a talented singer and group. They used to be very popular especially in Texas. He is a far out guy and I hope he wins. His website is at: < http://www.kinkyfriedman.com >. It will be interesting to see if his candidacy goes anywhere. That wrestler Jesse Ventura did win The Gov. of Minnesota a few years back as a independent, who knows, maybe Kinky can do it in Texas. ...Oscar

1. His petition drive to get on the ballot
is partially funded by Republicans. A four-way race will ensure that Perry wins again. Kinky is only a spoiler in this race.

We don`t need another Nader throwing an election to the Republicans. Thanks for the tip. ...Oscar

17. That was something I read in the Texas forum
While I like Kinky nad have been tempted to vote for him myself, I think a real Democrat is better. The problem is name recognition. Less than a couple of weeks from the primary and I have heard very little from either Bell or Gammage. What gives with that? It concerns me. Of course any democrat is bound to be better than Perry.

3. I hope he DOSEN'T win...
He hasn't voted ( except ONCE ) in the last 20 years.

He is like a NADER, I hope he dosen't even get on the ballot, we need a experienced person, not Kinky!

6. Hi Texasgal, I am convinced you are right, I still like his songs, that...
does not qualify him to be Governor of course. Oh well, I am sorry I started this post. Jesse Ventura did not make a very good Gov. of Minnesota from what I have heard. Couldn`t be bothered with doing the job and preferred hanging out at his ranch, things like that. ...Oscar

4. Whether he wins or loses, I'll always love the Kinkster.....
Been listening to him for close to 30 years now and he never fails to entertain. He's done some of the funniest, and some of the most sadly moving songs I've ever heard.

11. Gary P Nunn wrote "London Homesick Blues"
Nowadays, it's the theme for Austin City Limits. Nunn was part of the Lost Gonzo Band, who backed Jerry Jeff Walker (yay!) & Michael Martin Murphy (boo!) back in Cosmic Cowboy Days.

I'm sure lots of folks have sung that song.

5. One small problem with Kinky's campaign...
Someone on DU has found evidence that Texas Republicans are helping fund his race:

12. I like Kinky a lot, but am NOT supporting him for Governor.
I saw him & the Texas Jewboys (play on the Texas Playboys) a bunch of times; he can write a fine song. His mysteries started out as fun, but his literary skills are outgrowing them.

I'm voting for the Democrat in the race.
