1. I'd rather buy German or Wisconsin dark beer
Koenig Ludwig, Koestritzer, Berghoff Dark, Paulaner.

It's hard to find that here.

2. I love good old dark beers
(Ask flamingyouth - she winces at the sort of beers I drink) but I didn't particularly care for the Black Lager. Dunno. I thought it almost had a salty taste.

My favorite at the moment: http://www.stpetersbrewery.co.uk/range/prod_detail.asp?CatID=1&Code=CRCASE

:hi:

3. It is a pretty good schwartzbier
Interesting that they picked a style with few other commercial examples
to compare to, but it matches up pretty well to the ones available.
I don't get all the reviewers at the beeradvocate site who found it
roasty, though. "More like a porter"? They need to do an A-B tasting
between this and, say, Sierra Nevada Porter. Now that's roasty.
SABL is just as it should be--slightly sweet with lots of malt flavor
and a bit of caramel. Good stuff!
