Scout is walking around with a greenie, whining, because she has to
"bury" it in the bed so we won't steal it from her.

God, those things make dogs act neurotic.

6. She is a terrier...a serious "chewer."
There have been 13 dogs who have died....out of millions sold.

I think that lawsuit by that couple is ridiculous.

I work for a vet who has 5 full time vets working for her, and an adjacent specialty clinic that is open 24 hours. I deal with over 15 vets or so on a regular basis---most board certified.

In two years, at both clinics, there has not been ONE greenie surgery, and the Dr's sell them in the reception area....with the warning about not ever leaving your animals alone with them.

Wonder how many people have died from eating steaks? Or Hershey bars?

10. My sister's vet had never had a problem with Rimadyl ...
until it killed my sister's dog exactly one month after starting on it. Now she doesn't prescribe it anymore. Too bad a dog had to die before she learned. When it's YOUR dog, it's 100%.

My sister stopped giving greenies when one of her dogs had trouble with them. Every time the dog had one, she had a tummy ache the next day and wouldn't eat. Eventually, the greenie came up and she felt better. But it wasn't worth it. The dog was supervised when she was eating them.

11. If Scout got a stomach ache every time she ate one,
she wouldn't be chewing on one right now.

I am sorry about your sister's dog; I do know about problems with Rimadyl. What exactly did the postmortem show?

12. That's good to know ...
I guess some dogs can't tolerate them at all. We're glad my sister's dog got a tummy ache -- at least we got a warning! She didn't have very many, thankfully.

The postmortem showed that his death was consistent with Rimadyl poisoning. There was no doubt. He had the screening tests ahead of time and passed with flying colors. My sister was going to have them done twice as often as recommended ... but he was sick within 3 weeks and dead a week later after intensive therapy with the assistance of a vet from the drug company.

2. There is a class action lawsuit against greenies right now.
Apparently greenies don't always dissolve in the intestines and cause blockage, including serious injury and death.

8. Are milkbones passé?
Our doggies loved them..

We used to buy our little dog "People Crackers".. they came in a box with a string handle and the crackers were shaped like people..

9. Don't laugh....I give Scout Paul Newman's doggie treats instead of milk
bones---

The proceeds go to no kill shelters---it's really cool!

Plus---there's a photo of Paul himself on the label! Can't beat that!
