Good Monday Morning, Everybody!
:donut::hi:
How are you today? Captain Clintmax with you now welcoming you to the Early Morning Crew and the start of a brand new work week! I hope you had a good time over the weekend! We had a relaxing two days here at the Clintmax & Greekspeak house, but we didn't get done nearly as much as we'd planned, and, let me just say for the record...weekends off go by WAAAY too fast. I hope you're ready for a new week because...it's here...ready or not!

5. Hail, Robeson!
:hi:
The car search was one of the things I didn't get done, Man. As far as actually going to the lots and test driving each of them. I HAVE done a lot of research on the car makers websites and others, though. I just need to actually put my hands on each of them still.

How are YOU doing? Anything exciting going on?

24. Welcome to my night...
... and thanks for the welcome to this morning!

I only get to go online late, since (at present) I've no comp of my own, and in fact, am couch-surfing for the next week or so (I hope!) So, I was already here when you came in...

I must say, however, that this place and these people have made a very nasty time in my life one HELL of a lot better! It's good to see people who are walkin' the walk, not just talkin' the talk! :yourock:

4. Good morning Clintmax!
I hope all is well with you! I agree...weekends go by too fast. But my kids have next week (the week after this one) off for midwinter break, so I am looking forward to that!

I was going to get a bunch done too. It appears all I got done was a bunch of posting on DU. :hi: Hope you have a wonderful week! :hi:

I took today off, with the intention to get my apt in order (how long am I saying this now?). Anyway, so far all I did was finally takin a shower and watching the Olympic Games. For some reason Curling is fascintating :eyes: In half an hour Biathlon is on, after that I will get ahead with my apt. I promise :)

Ahahaha, so you're doing a little procrastinating? Can't blame you. Sometimes I take a "sick" day, with the intention of just going nothing. Well, reading and drinking tea that is.
I haven't watched much of the Olympics, but had a chance to catch part of the cross-country skiers.

206. Hey SimplyF
we think alike, don't we? I just couldn't find an excuse for being sick, so I took the day off. Is at least more honest.
For you watching the Olympics is kinda hard since you are six hours or more behind. Makes it difficult. For me it is difficult to watch since I have to work durig the day. Good thing it is going into the evening every day.

196. Hello, MissHoneychurch!
:hi: I am copying my message to you from Friday--I didn't get to finish it and send it until too late. It is from right after you administered to TJ a Carmen-related spanking!

Here it is below.

Hello! I am just peeking out from under my rock now, and there is so much fertile ground for discussion in this thread that I can NOT catch up!

Elektra is probably like a cup of medicinal tea. When I saw it, I think they got some aspects of the production just right for my appreciation. The performers were in Greek style dress and the set was fashioned after a Greek temple that was part ruinous, part contorted perspective that helped convey the madness. What really carried it though, was the performance of the singer in the Elektra role. She was just arresting and when she danced her dance (which was alien and primitive, but not distracting from the purpose) you were convinced she was quite mad.

My other favorite madness scenes (and they are often fatal, to the character, not the audience!) are in Lucia di Lammermoor and for extreme creepiness the gypsy holding the straw baby in Il Trovatore.

(Someone came in my office and prevented my finishing this for quite a while. I may have missed you entirely, but we will catch up soon. Have a great weekend. )

207. Hello swimboy
:hi:

no, I didn't catch your answer Friday. So thank you for posting it again. I would rather had the performance also in Greek costumes. But no, it was modern with a big hint to Guantanamo. And they had to pull up "corpses" with cut off limbs. Why? I am just not a fan to put classic topics into modernism. Gives me a bad taste in the mouth. Elektra sang really good. Her "crazy" dance wasn't really crazy. Orest sang very good too. It was good to finally hear male voices after most of the opera is sung by females.
Alltogether it was a good performance at least by the singers. But as I told tj already, I am not so much into the un-harmonic music. Even though Richard Strauss is harmonic compared to Arrnold Schönberg. :)

13. Hey Clintmax!
Nice to see you on this Monday morning. :)

Right now, I'm currently in the "ba hum bug" mood because Valentine's Day is tomorrow, and I'm single, once again, for the fourth year in a row. :(

But other than that, I guess I'm doing fine.

14. Good morning Clint!
What I had over the weekend was a pile of snow. Then I got into it with my lovely co-worker because she refused to do any of the shoveling for the incredibly long sidewalk and two driveways. (though she had no problem standing in the doorway staring at me while I did it) Stupid . So much for her "Christian values". Needless to say I promptly reported her to the boss.

"Kiss You All Over". I love that song. :-)

:hi::hug:
Yes, I know there was a LOT of snow around the country over the weekend. How much did you get? We only got a lot of rain on Saturday, but it was sunny and chilly on Sunday.

I hate people who think they are too good to do their part of the work like that. x( I would have reported her too!

I love that song also! :bounce:

48. About 9 or 10 inches
Yeah, she's a piece of work. I came in after doing the huge sidewalk to take a break. She asked if there was anything she could do and I said, "Shovel the driveway--not the whole thing, but just enough for a car to get in". She started hemming and hawing (a bunch of "oh, oh no, oh, I have no snow shoes", etc) then just closed the front door. (I had a cold, cramps and wet sneakers but that didn't stop me from shoveling) Then she asks if I can just move my car out of where I'm parked so the next staff can get in. I said, "Well yes, but that doesn't mean the other driveway won't need to be cleared out anyway, it only fixes the situation for this morning." She said nothing, and I ended up going out to clear out the mess from behind and around my car, with her staring at me the whole time. I called the supervisor from my cell while sitting in my car (while it was still covered with snow) and she told me to write up an incident report to document it, and that she'd speak to the co-worker about it the next day.

Asinine people!

116. Hail and good morning Sir!
:hi:

We had a fairly low key weekend here at the Witchhouse. Son had a basketball game on Saturday (I am the team scorekeeper). Yesterday I spent much of the day trying to figure out my son's graphing calculator (I have a TI-85, which is SIMPLE compared to his TI-89 Titanium). I still have not figured his out, so I gave him mine to use for programming.

166. well, I'm glad... of course, not having friends in New England...
... (that I know of, anyway), makes it easier to not worry (much) about those being dumped upon there! I was sweating it out for my friends in upstate NY (nr Buffalo) and out on Long Island, but just about everyone else I know is either in the southeast (Tampa, and central Alabama), in West-Central PA, in the Tex-ahoma region, or out here on the Left Coast... except for one small group in the Idaho mountains and they winter camp in the heights darn near every year anyway!

130. The weatherman was wrong so it turned out better than I expected.
We only got 2 inches of snow instead of the predicted 5 to 10 inches. Proving that once again sometimes ~ smaller is better.

Another reason for my good weekend is: after my second phone call to the contractor on Friday, he got back to me with an estimate and an apology. I'm happier now, the pressure to find the correct person for the job is over. :) I can go back to dreaming about the summer.

134. Will the cold hurt any of the citrus crops?
Maddy MaCall ran a thread about tangelos over the weekend. I couldn't resist having the sweet juice dripping off my fingertips so I ordered a few.

146. It's tangelo season. You should try one. *warning~eat it over the sink!*

They grow east of Orlando toward the Banana River. It's probably the most expensive piece of fruit I've ever eaten but it's a nice treat.

Are you expecting the return of warm weather soon?

179. That's a good question. The hybrid has been around for a while.
A bit of reasearch in the past few minutes shows the tangelo to be a hardy tree in warm climates.
I'm still now sure why the price is sky high.

Here is what one man thought about the price :http://www.sicklesmarket.com/Newsletter/Archives/FN_194_February_1_2003.htm " While at the market I noticed that Mineola Tangelos were available from both Florida and Arizona. Those from Florida were decidedly more expensive. Being curious I bought some of the Florida ones and compared them to the Arizona tangelos that we had back at the market. There was a marked difference, thus justifying the high price difference. The flesh was more tender, the fragrance more intense, and the juice just ran down my chin! In fact, Mineolas make the best orange juice you will ever have (despite the fact that it becomes a relatively expensive juice). "

Yes, it'll be cold where we're going. So I'll sit in the sunny window with a big fire going in the fireplace. We didn't close on the land on Friday like we were supposed to. The realtor and title company got things a little confused and no one sent us the papers to sign. They'll be here today. We just learned from the realtor, who learned from the owner, that there is a spring on our property that feeds the neighbor's cattle pond. So we might be able to have a little stream in the woods. How cool would that be?

Had a wonderful weekend myself, thanks for asking! My oldest son came home from college with his three bandmates who are totally adorable. I saw "Iron Jawed Angels" and I got to here a Valentine performance of a CD with music written by a dear friend and sung by an amazing young woman who is also a friend. And some kind soul on DU gave me a heart. I am a happy woman. Off to work in a minute, but I had to check in.
