Great Elephant Rescue Story underway now
The Elephant Sanctuary (TES) in TN is in the midst of a great elephant rescue. As a kid in the 50's and 60's do you remember going to the circus to see the animals? I did at the old Boston Garden. I didn't know it then, but most of these elephants have been used and abused and have suffered significant trauma.

Anyways, the good news is that the society is waking up and doing something about it. Eight elephants are just arriving at TES and can be viewed on the live Ele-Cam at this link. Read their life stories....very disturbing, but the TES is giving them a sorely needed refuge to live together in nature in a wonderful atmosphere. If you view the Ele-Cam near sunset, it is funny to see the deer running around the pasture next to the elephants.

Enjoy!

4. I wish more folks knew the love and great care given most circus animals.
As with pet and child care the care given performing and work animals varies from case to case. Basically, it's good business to treat your animals well.

6. As with most businesses
that utilize animals, it's common to treat them like crap.

You can go ahead and look into the dozens of violations that have been brought by the USDA against Ringling alone. Cruelty is also inherent in the trainin, as has said ex-trainers, and there's tons of video.

So, when you actually look into the topic, you let me know what you find.

11. I cross-posted this to the TN state forum
because your state dept of agriculture and others in TN deserve a lot of credit for making TES happen. These 30 to 60 year old elephants have had TB and foot infections (which is a killer for ele's) and the TN vet community with the owners of TES are doing everything possible to make them well and give them a more natural environment to live out the rest of their lives.

Cudo's to TN.

16. Aw. I'm glad they made it.
I get sick when I think about the way animals are treated for circuses and rodeos. I would NEVER take my kids to see one!
