2. I won't agree with that. It's the refs that suck. I just can't believe how
many people are upset over this when it happens all the time...and sometimes with worse consequences. The Seahawks made it to the Super Bowl. Many teams haven't because of rotten calls. :hi:

3. My god...my father in law went insane over the game and he's not even a
Seahawks fan. We live in Minnesota! He was standing up screaming "YOU CHEAP ZEBRA!!" about every 5 minutes.
Real nice example to set for my 9 year old. "Sorry, hon, Grandpa forgot to take his anti-crazy pills this morning."

It's. just. a. game. And it was a boring game at that.

4. Thanks, Mrs. G
I refuse to get into flaming "we wuz robbed" threads today. It's over and we are in the history books. We too suffered bad calls AGAINST us during the playoffs (the NFL even had to officially apologize for one of them) but I'd rather save my energy to fight the theocratic-neocon agenda then DUers who belittle the Steelers.

6. Indeed.

I remember a Packers playoff loss to San Fran a few years ago. San Fran had clearly made a catch, with both feet down, full control, taking a step to run, when the receiver fumbled the ball and the Packers recovered. That ended the game, as it was very late in the fourth quarter. Alas, the refs actually said the receiver dropped the ball, allowing San Fran to keep it and have another crack at a touchdown to win the game.

Still, yesterday's game even had the Steelers fans I spent the day with shaking their heads. Sure, they enjoyed the calls, but no one could believe the number of calls made, not to mention a couple of non-call holding penalties that may have cost Seattle a score or two. It was fun to watch a game with such honest fans! It wouldn't have been so much fun, if they weren't so honest, however. Still, I'm happy that Paul Allen lost!

7. 1999 that was, Jerry Rice. I've never forgotten. But them's the breaks.
And then with 7 seconds seconds left to go...Steve Young threw a touchdown pass...that never would have been allowed had they had review that year instead of the next. ;)

Packer fans will never forget that or 4th and 26, but it goes both ways. We've gotten our share of lucky breaks too. :hi:

8. They are the breaks.
Alas, I seem to hear more people comparing the NFL with professional wrestling every year!

Salud,
:)

18. "I" personally had nothing to do with it.
;) I used it as an illustration of things we never forget. :hi: Yes, it was all the Packers fault, that one was...but it doesn't hurt any less. :(

The officiating in the playoffs this year was the most pathetic I've ever seen.

11. Probably because it involves your team...1999 was the worst for me,
because it involved my team. Congrats to you for the Seahawks making it to the SB. :hi:

10. nice link
They included all of the ones I know about, and I love to see that they included this one

"Sugar Bear's Rougning Call (1976):

Late in the game, with New England leading 21-17, Raider quarterback Ken Stabler heaved a desperation pass that fell incomplete. It appeared that the Patriots had pulled off one of the greatest upsets in playoff history. Unfortunately for the Patriots, in stepped referee Ben Dreith.

Dreith flagged Pats' defensive lineman Ray "Sugar Bear" Hamilton with a bogus roughing the passer call. Stabler took advantage of the second chance and eventually scored the winning touchdown in a 24-21 Oakland victory."

So when this one happened in 2002

"In what can only be described as an incorrect analysis of a poorly written rule, the Raiders were screwed out of a trip to the AFC title game"

I was laughing my a$$ off - payback city Raida fans, payback city

13. Both teams in a game always have to overcome bad calls.
It is to what length they overcome them and the other team as to whether they win the game.
