any "chemistry lab report " experts?
I'm taking Chemistry I this semester and we did our first lab last Wed and the lab report is due tomorrow. I wrote down in my notes that the basic outline for a lab report goes as followed: Abstract, Introduction, Procedure, Data, Conclusion. So my question is, what is the difference between the abstract and the introduction? They seem like the same thing to me, and now I'm kicking myself for not expanding on my notes.

oh yeah also any does anyone know how to solve this equation?
24.305= .7899(24) + X(25) + (1-.7899-X)(26)

I realize this is basic algebra but I don't remember how to solve for X and I was too embarrassed to ask in class.

24.305= .7899(24) + X(25) + (1-.7899-X)(26)
24.305=18.7992+25X+7.2008-26X
24.305=26-X
-1.695=-X
X=1.695

Not even sure what the abstract is, but hell I'm still in Highschool. Find an Algebra one or two textbook right away and relearn it fast. I can't imagine any science course being easy without a decent algebra background.

edit: meant for OP, my bad.

3. Difference
Abstract not only introduces the report but gives the main conclusion, where the introduction just introduces the experiment and methods.
