22. Funny story about being called a yankee...

I was in toronto a few yrs ago on an internship/p/t job, one of the people I work with was having a debate with me about some historical/political topic (I think it was something about canada having control of detroit during the war of 1812) anyway the guy says to me "what do ya think about that yankee?" and I replied like the idiot i am "Hey...I'm a Mets fan!" (never was called a yankee before)

20. John, there are some licensed donut shops in Ontario.

I was even stationed at a base which had a nearby laundromat which served donuts and beer on tap. I don't know why I ever went home!

Tim Horton was a pro hockey player if i remember correctly right? Would love to see them expand more into the US.

He started the chain, and then he died (either cancer or a car accident--I can't remember). His widow foolishly sold the whole kit and kaboodle, rights and all, for, like, $100,000.

They are somewhat connected to Wendy's, although to what degree, I don't know.

They are expanding into the US. I read last year that there were already 100 locations in the US.

I'm a bit with HEyHEY on this one--Timmy's isn't great. It's more of a cultural icon, due in part to being the only open public space in many smaller communities throughout the Country. It was the one place you could go, and for $2, cool your jets in an indoor, above freezing environment. And, when I was a kid, seniors had a 'bottomless cup' policy there, so they could drink coffee and shoot the breeze all day for a buck or two.

I don't drink coffee, so the whole phenomenon is lost on me. Come to think of it, I don't smoke pot, either, so why the heck do I even live here?!
