3. Lyrics
there are many catchy little tunes that I despise because of their lyrical content.

It's the lyrics, always the lyrics.

7. A little from column A, a little from column B...
Though bad music is more of a deal breaker than bad lyrics, usually.

8. My dear yvr girl......
Generally the music.....but the lyrics matter as well....

But FIRST comes the music!

If the tune doesn't catch my interest, then the lyrics don't matter.....

9. The music will make me listen, the lyrics will make me love it.

11. MUSIC
(Yes, I meant all caps for emphasis)

about 2/3's of the stuff I listen to is instrumental. Plus, lyrically it's just about all been covered--how many more paens to love lost do we really need anyway?

12. Lyrics and melody

16. Lyrics, although many a time the lyrics are good but the song sucks.
And there are always the lyricly kindergarden songs that rock anyway.

I'd say it's about 60/40 for me.
