If God really loved me he'd have a Pink Floyd tour this year

I was just watching the Pink Floyd performance from Live8 and they so absolutely fucking ROCKED that entire concert every single one of them - Floyd was the best. I still get tears in my eyes watching the guitar jam at the end of "Comfortably Numb" which was such a fucking amazing performance

I don't know why Water & Gilmour can't put their differences aside for a few months and put together probably what one could say would be the most highly anticipated concert event of a lifetime.

Please God - show your love to me and all the DUers here who so much want to see Pink Floyd in concert.

And while you're at it - how about a Zeppelin tour with Jason Bonham on drums?

26. OMG! My family would need 4 front row seats!
What an awesome show that would be. I turned my sons on to King Crimson a couple of years ago via "The Court of the Crimson King"- and they took to the music so well that they now own every album ever recorded by them. Makes a mom's heart so happy to have her musical tastes validated by the younguns! :hi:

15. I like Pink Floyd ... Listened to the wall hundreds of times
in junior year of college... our local movie expert, who stayed on for years after his senior year, once pissed everyone off by saying that movie would be "The Wall", only to have everyone turn out for some weird foreign film... done deliberately; he was there to watch everyone leave...

as for god, well ....

17. They're all doing their own thing: Plant, Page, Jones etc
But if the Rolling Stones can make $165million off of touring (and trust me - I've been bored with the Stones and their work since about 1981 when they did their first of many farwell tours) then think of the money potential that a Led Zeppelin or Pink Floyd could garner if either band did a reunion and toured one last time.

I mean, I would have loved to see a Beatles reunion and when Lennon died I thought "There's still 3 of them, they could do it" but now there are only two of them left and it wouldn't be much of a Beatles tour with just Ringo & Paul.

So I'd hate to see Floyd or Zeppelin wait so long that it becomes impossible to tour because they've lost too many members (ok, Floyd hasn't really lost anyone except for Syd to the crazies but you know what I mean).

It just makes me sad that neither band would consider not doing this in light of the fact that legions of their fans would absolutely adore this!

19. Here's the difference between Floyd and Zep.
I believe Zep will do it again. I really, really believe it, for a number of reasons. Someone will wave the appropriate carrot under their noses and they will tour. I don't understand the John Paul Jones thing (nor do I care to), but what the hell, let him share in the profits. He was on the albums, he helped craft the music, he was on every "Led Zeppelin" tour. He had a MUCH greater role in that band than most people realize. Don't pull some Page & Plant bullshit again so they can split the lion's share of the profits 50-50 and toss a union scale bone to the hired guns. Do the right thing. If Gilmour and Waters could put their differences behind them for Live 8, do the right damned thing and call Jones.

Floyd, on the other hand...I dunno. I really have my doubts. Gilmour has said many, many times that he doesn't need the money. He's turned down many opportunities for post-Pulse tours. What a lot of people don't know is that Gilmour invited Waters to perform on the tour that produced the "Pulse" CD...he wanted him as part of that whole "Dark Side Of The Moon Live" thing. Waters said no. So Live 8 was NOT the first time that he reached out, but who knows. Maybe they want things to end on a high note...which Live 8 certainly was...and it will be the last.

So, with Led Zeppelin, I think the only thing required would be coming up with the right amount of money.

With Floyd, it's gonna take another Sir Bob Geldof move. Someone's going to have to get through to them on a level that transcends financial gain. Someone's going to have to find a reason to do it that hasn't already been presented to them.

Time will tell.

21. If God hates me, then this tour will indeed happen
because I won't be able to go to it.

They will play very few dates, and tickets will be about as expensive as Rolling Stones tickets, if not more expensive than that.

Hell they would probably have to pay me to go see those old geezers in concert. I have the same attitude about The Who, which I saw their 1989 Farwell Concert Tour

23. I refuse to see a "rock" concert where the band
has started wearing button down shirts that they tuck into their jeans. It just doesn't say "rock n roll" to me. Listening to old Pink Floyd albums will do just fine.

24. Aren't they touring?
I could swear that they were in Des Moines a couple of months or so ago. I didn't go but I heard from a very reliable source that one of the band members has a 'control' problem and really grossed out the dry cleaners. Sorry...but it grossed me out too. Not sure if Dark Side of the Moon will ever be the same for me.

29. I don't understand why Pink Floyd won't tour again
I know, I know, Waters and Gilmour absolutely fucking hate each other, but it's not like they would have to actually interact with each other. Consider that:

1) The stage will have the square footage of an average sized Wal-Mart. They'll be playing stadiums, not some hole-in-the-wall dive that was a cheesecake restaurant three months ago. They won't even *see* each other on that stage, especially with the lasers, which they can point at each other if they really feel the need.

2) They can have separate *everything* - again, they're not going to be crammed into a VW bus, crammed in there with the drum kit, the herpes infested girlfriend of the keyboard player bugging them every five minutes for a light. They can have separate limos, separate hotels (not seperate hotel rooms, but different hotels, possibly in different towns), and even seperate private jets.

and last but not least

3) They'll literally be swimming in money if they do a tour. They could charge $500 a ticket before ticketmasher fees, and the website will crash due to an overflow of orders. Mastercard will surrender. American Express will issue their next stockholders report on pink paper. It's a can't lose situation.

But they'd rather be tight assed old farts, so fuck 'em.

35. My husband was just starting as an engineer in Hollywood
He got to work on The Wall as a runner/asst. engineer. This was at Producer's Workshop in Hollywood. He's got some great memorabilia.

I got to meet David once, at A&M records, in the mid-eighties.

David and Roger -- two brilliant guys who were brilliant together. When they get in the same room, they either make greatness, or they explode in a ball of flames.

One of hubby's stories: When David was doing vocals on The Wall, he was in the booth singing, and he stopped between takes and made a sign with his hands, one perpendicular on top of the other. The Americans all understood it as "time-out," but Roger jumped up and went to the kitchen, made David a cup of tea, and brought it to him.

David says, "what's this?" Roger: "tea."

David: "I was saying, TAKE IT FROM THE TOP."

I would love to see them in a reunion tour. I never got to see them perform live, as I was still in high school far away when my man was hanging out.
