What unanswered questions on 'LOST' would you like to see resolved?
{{{SPOILER}}}

I'd like to know more about 'The Others'. Also what is the story with the 'Black Rock'? And who were the people that were buried in the caves? These are just a few things I hope they answer, although I doubt the 'Black Rock' shows up again. Unless 'The Others' are the former crew of the 'Black Rock', but how do 'The Others' have a motorized vessel?

4. What do you mean? He died!
He's buried in the sand next to a few of the other bodies killed, ironically, when the airplane in the tree fell. They spread it over two episodes, so I'm not sure how you missed it!

25. He died after the plane he climbed up into fell to the ground
Jack was going to try to amputate both of his legs to try to save his life. But then sanity prevailed and he decided to let him go.

He and his sister are buried next to each other.

Since they didn't have all their luggage crash with them like everybody else?

5. I want to know about the 'button', the 'incident'
where the heck Walt is, and how the Others decide whom they will take and whom will be left behind. And I'd love to know the deal about the numbers. Good Lord, all of it. I want them to resolve it all and I'm going to be mightily pissed if they don't tie up every loose end, eventually.

7. Yes
What the computer is, who the Darpa or whatever people are, the numbers, how the nutcase who met the doctor in the stadium ended up in the computer room before him. and on and on.

Is he living with the Others? Did the Polar Bear make breakfast out of him?

Why do I suddenly have a feeling that instead of a conclusion, they're just going to say that some prankster slipped LSD into the inflight FISH ~and~ CHICKEN options :eyes:

24. They explained how Desmond ("the nutcase") came to be on the island
He was on a solo race around the world and his sailboat ran aground on the reef. The person in charge of entering the numbers, Kelvin, came running out of the jungle and brought him back to the underground bunker so that Desmond could help him. Later Kelvin dies and Desmond is there alone, still entering the numbers.

26. It's DHARMA, and it apparently stands for something...
or at least, one of the producers of the show let that slip the other day.

6. My grand and wonderful theory of Lost.
Back in the 1970's a techno-cult developed a way to ensure world peace. They started developing nanotechnology capable of altering peoples perceptions and attempted to build an earthbound Nirvana on the island. The technology got away from them, however, and the nanobots became free thinking. The "Others" are survivors from the original experiment, mixed with survivors of other crashes and shipwrecks.

Despite the fact that the experiment wasn't wholly successful, high ranking members of the technocult, now fully integrated into their respective governments, are still trying to make the theory work by influencing peoples lives in ways that direct them to the island. People with skills needed on the island (like doctors and teachers) end up there, and the assumption is that they'll eventually be assimilated into the Other society.

Nice theory. Pulled completely from my ass, of course, but a nice theory anyway :)

10. That is my exact theory as well.
Which means it's too airtight, and therefore unacceptable. :)

15. Unfortunatly, the show creators say that most questions WON'T be answered
The shows creator and producer gave an interview, and let these tidbits slip:

"If you're watching the show because you're waiting for the big answers to come, you have to understand that by the nature of what it is — it's not a movie, it's not a series of movies, it's not a trilogy, it's not a miniseries — it's going to be on the air for as long as ABC wants to keep it on the air."

"How can you ever possibly think that Lost will end in a satisfying way? Carlton and I can almost guarantee you that it will not."

In other words, they affirmed what people have said all along...even the writers don't know what's going to happen in the end. It's like a midday soap opera, there's no ending written, and the writers job is simply to keep the story running and interesting to keep you hooked. In the end, they're as in the dark about how the show will end as you are.

Watching Lost is like riding a rollercoaster. The point is to enjoy the ride, not the destination.

27. Oh, boy. I see "Twin Peaks" syndrome on the near horizon.
If what you're saying is true, then this show is going to run out of gas by the end of this season. When it becomes apparent to the viewers that there IS no answer to all of its mysteries, and that the writers of the show are just pulling stuff out of thin air (as they did with "Twin Peaks" in its second season and with "X Files"), you might as well start building the shark ramp. Who wants to waste their time with all that nonsense?

I read an interview with JJ Abrams last year where he said that there was a reason for everything that happens on this show. If that was all BS, I really don't want to waste any more of my time trying to figure it all out. And why should I?

of the records that Charlie and Hurley were listening to end up being some of the "Others".

14. They all have death in common.
Each "back story" has a death involved in it. Kate killed her step father. Jack's father died. Hurley's grandfather dies. Sawyer's mother, father, are dead and he kills a guy. Anna Lucia kills a kid. Etc.

Granted we've only had one back story episode on her, but she didn't seem to wrong anyone and there was no death.

18. True, but her brother dies and she dies.
I'm betting that Boone and Claire both make a reappearance on the show. Resurrected in some way.On closer scrutiny they all don't have death in their back story, but most do.

Her story was all about protecting her unborn baby. That's the only reason she went on the ill-fated flight.

Maybe she's the sole exception for some sort of purpose.

13. I have two
1. I'd like to know the significance of the numbers.

2. I'd like to know the details surrounding the crash itself. (How did this "random" group of people with so many overlapping events from their lives all end up on that same flight? What exactly happened to the plane? (ie Was the crash intentional or not?) How did so many people survive? Etc.)

23. Why don't they just catch the bus into town? It stops right behind them.
No, really. Route 76-Waialua stops just down the road from their "beach" on O'ahu's North Shore.

http://www.thebus.org/Route/Maps/rtm72com.pdf

They would, however, have to transfer at Hale'iwa to get into Honolulu proper, and then again to reach Waikiki. so perhaps it's just easier to stay out there and raid one another's water bottles. :-)
