Rain, rain, go away: Time for a Seattle DU meetup!
Okay, everyone, this is the 25th straight day of rain in the Pacific Northwest. I can unequivocably say that I'm sick of it already!

Would you like to visit a local restaurant that is a taste of the islands without fighting the crowds at Sea-Tac, spending your last dime for airline tickets and hotel room, or worrying about a bikini wax? Ohana in Belltown's the place! It's Polynesian and Japanese food, tropical drinks with umbrellas in 'em, and lots of fun for all.

Who's in? We'll pick a date and time, and PM the lucky Seattleites that will be joining us!

Julie
I'll be the redhead in the Hawaiian shirt ;-)

1. As long as we don't pick the Rainforest Cafe!
Actually, that sounds like a great idea! Mind if another redhead joins the party? :toast:

3. I don't patronize restaurants that don't require
a bikini wax.

Guy's gotta have priorities, y'know.

4. Post a pic of your bikini wax!
I can hardly wait to see it! :bounce:
BTW, I hope you had a back and chest wax to go with it. A guy with just a bikini wax is just too freaky.

8. Who said anything about
my bikini wax?

My back and chest don't need it. Got a little around the nips and a Happy Trail, but that's it.

We'd also like to welcome those who might want to fly in!

Here's the place, for those who'd like to take a look at the menu and the drink options :woohoo:!

13. I'm booting my own thread
At this point, I'm thinking a later Saturday afternoon/early evening, possibly January 21st or 28th, if I can get reservations. What do you all think about that idea?

Julie

16. Okay, guys,
The 21st sounds promising, but we'll be running into Seahawks traffic.

If people could PM me and let me know which day's best for them, I'll make the arrangements...

17. I have to work during the day on the 21st
What time is the Seahawks game?

I don't relish going downtown, even to Belltown, on game day. That will be some nasty traffic. :scared:

What about Sunday?

19. Okay, I'm making an executive decision here
I can't go on Saturday afternoon, January 21st because I have to work. Since I'm the person putting this together ;-), it might be nice if I were present. The Seahawks game is next Saturday night at 6:30 PM. Traffic will be horrendous downtown.

I'm moving the event to Sunday, January 22nd. I am so sorry if this inconveniences anyone. I will send PM's to everyone expressing an interest in going with more details (time, etcetera.) Please be advised that the restaurant will not give us separate checks and that they are adding an 18% gratuity to anything that's ordered by our party. I will need to give the restaurant a headcount by at least this Tuesday afternoon, so please let me know.

I hope that the vast majority can make it; if this date isn't going to work for you, I'll do my best to try this again soon!

Julie
looking for that Hawaiian shirt as we speak...

24. Sounds good to me - I like Ohana
They serve food into the wee hours of the morning, too. Nicest staff...

Once I went in there when almost all the other kitchens had closed with a horrible craving for a cheeseburger. Ordinarily I groove on the sushi and the various robata, but I had been on a diet for weeks and weeks and just HAD to have a cheeseburger. Well, they don't have cheeseburgers on the menu, but they have all the stuff to make cheeseburgers. They made me a cheeseburger, with a pineapple slice on it. Best burger ever! :-D

25. The Seahawks are trying to RUIN MY LIFE!
Okay.

It seems that next week's game is on Sunday afternoon at 3:30 PM. Going to Ohana at the time I had envisioned will ensure that many of those attending will be caught in hellacious traffic downtown.

Let's try this again. I'm now suggesting Sunday afternoon, January 29th. I apologize to anyone that can't make it that day, but just the thought of those in our party stuck in football traffic for hours on Sunday, the 22nd really makes it necessary that the date get changed.

Again: We will do this. It just won't be as soon as I initially anticipated .

Questions? Comments? Let me know.
Julie

Hawks are gonna really have to be on their game next week! Thank God they're playing here, and the 12th man will be in the house!
