You might have seen this GD thread:

It describes a plane crash that killed a good man I met last June. His name was Gary, and he was a pilot. He flew me from Berkeley to LA to Santa Rosa over two days. It was beautiful.

It hurts that he is gone, but there is a little part that is freaking me out about this.

That's his plane.

I was in that very plane seven months ago.

It's just unsettling.

3. I know what you mean.

I had a friend with a beautiful '67 Mustang fast back. I rode in it many a time. This guy drove like a bat out of hell all the time. One night, he missed a turn, flipped many times and was killed. I saw the picture in the paper the next day and all I could think about was how many times I'd ridden in that car and why I was never unlucky.

Edit - forgot a word.

5. No wonder you are unsettled
I'd be shaken, as well. Sorry for your loss and hope you will be able to pull yourself together, soon.

6. Understandably unnerving
"There but for the grace of God (or whatever forces in the Universe..) go I..." syndrome.

Still, I'm sure he was happy to share his talents with you at the time. Yes, raise a glass to your all too brief friendship.

7. I'm sorry Will
I, too, have experienced the sudden loss of someone who came briefly into my life, gave much, and then was gone. I call them angels in human suits, because indeed that's what they are. Peace to you, Will.

8. It just means you're alive and loving it!
Sorry about your friend. That is truly tragic. Life also involves death as we will all soon find out. As sad as that is, there is a silver lining for you, right? May you continue to have a fruitful life.

10. While I am not religious
one of the sayings I have come to respect is "there but for the grace of god go I."

I have been in a similar position before, when someone was hurt and I had sat in that very spot many days myself. I know how you feel. It's not only a freakiness, it's as though you have a glimpse into another reality.

11. Bummer.
I'm sorry it happened to your friend and I'm glad it wasn't you, Will. Peace and blessings to his family during this difficult time.

I guess it was just his time to go. Nobody gets out alive.

That's why we gotta enjoy every moment we've got!
:hi:

Take care.

12. Damn. I'm sorry.
I think I'd be a bit unnerved, too.

Small planes...I just don't know. :(
