Anyone else read The Stranger?
I started reading it for Savage Love.

But Cienna is totally cracking me up. I hope the editors don't actually murder her. When they sent her to an SA meeting and she said " My name is Cienna. I am addicted to sexahol" - that's a get out of jail free card if I ever saw one.

Plus the latest issue has an "article" by the guy who did "Fuck Christmas" and "Fuck the South". Icing on the cake.

Khash.

1. Is there another 'the Stranger'?
What you are describing sure doesn't sound like my copy of Camus.

9. As Camus said
the only important question is whether or not to kill yourself.

Here I was innocently trying to discuss something funny - and you all get existential on me!

8. Would everyone, like, get with the program
and read flamingyouth's post?

Camus was funny the first time... but I've read the book: There was not a character named Cienna, Dan Savage did not write a column, and no one said fuck.

11. I read The Stranger, every week
Sometimes, they can be really fucking hilarious. And very, very mean. And hypocritical. I was kind of upset that these supposed free-wheeling, very pro-gay editorial staffers came out mostly in favor of the fascist smoking ban.

Since I stay away from most TV, sensationalist movies, etc., The Stranger sometimes, unfortunately channels my "gawd this is fucking tacky prurience for the sake of shock," spirit. I do get tired of all the crass sex stuff, sometimes, and switch to the Weekly, which is like boring on the other end of the spectrum.

I think Dan Savage is syndicated, though I'm not sure.

12. Yes Savage is syndicated, surprisingly.
Yeah the smoking ban got to me to.

But I love their meanness. I even like their hypocricy - in favour of the Iraq war while opposing it? Absolute Discordian mindfuck. But Dan did apologize.

The shock for shock's sake is a bit much. How many time can you squeeze "fuck" into one paragraph?

Still every time a new issue comes out... I'm there.

I still think Cienna is the best new addition. But if I have to hear about her vagina one more time.... that girl is dead meat.

Still, it's funny and they do tackle current issues. And I'll always love them for Courtney Love's obit.
