2. I just ate 20 bulbs of raw, marinated garlic
I would have eaten more, but they were all gone.

I'm going to the store tomorrow to buy some more garlic.

I have heartburn now from all that garlic.

So I just ate a Tums.

39. Next time, try roasting it first.
It's much easier on the stomach and it's spreadable.

From Emeril Lagasse, garlic expert...

Roasted Garlic:
2 heads garlic, upper quarter removed
2 teaspoons olive oil
Salt
Ground black pepper

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Place the garlic on a foil-lined baking sheet and rub 1 teaspoon of oil into the top of each head. Sprinkle lightly with salt and pepper and place, cut side down, on the baking sheet. Bake until the cloves are soft and golden, about 1 hour. Remove from the oven and let sit until cool enough to handle. Squeeze each head of garlic to expel the cloves into a bowl. Mash into a paste. Set aside until needed.
Yield: 1/4 cup Note: Each head of garlic makes approximately 2 tablespoons of roasted garlic

Oh, did you mean for it to be used as a condiment? I thought it would make a great snack.

115. Well, most of the time people spread this on things, like toasted bread.
You can use it however you like. Emeril is the best, when it comes to garlic, uses it in most everything, and very liberally! Enjoy!:9

74. I've had some weird experiences.
Edited on Wed Jan-04-06 01:42 PM by rbnyc
The night my boyfriend killed himself, when I was a freshman in college, he came to me in a dream to say goodbye and to tell me that I was a sex addict. I had no idea he was hanging across from my dorm room window and was actually dead. Tho' I refused to get out of bed that day. The suite phone kept ringing, and people were whispering outside my door. Finally someone knocked and told me what had happened, and I wasn't surprised.

I also always seem to know when someone close to me dies. Usually the phone rings and I think, Michele is dead or Grandma passed away, etc. Just matter-of-fact-ly. And that's the news.

My late aunt has come to me many times in dreams.

But I've also seen ghosts. I don't really know if they were ghosts, of course. I could never pretend to understand such things. But I know what I experienced.

Once I was woken up in the middle of the night by the sound of breaking glass. I later found out, a neighbor had dropped a glass globe out of his window for fun. Anyway, the sound woke me up. I sat up in bed. And there was a man standing over my bed. Solid and real as any person I'd ever seen. Since it was the sound of breaking glass that woke me up, I assumed he was an intruder. I screamed. Then he slowly faded away right before my eyes. I was fully awake. It was something, but it was not a dream.

Another time, years earlier actually, I was napping in the top bunk of bunk beds I shared with a college roommate. I woke up to the sound of my name. There was a woman standing beside my bed. Because I was in the top bunk, her face was right next to mine, inches away. At first, she looked kind of like my roommate, but then I realized it wasn't her. I wasn't scared. I figured it was a friend of someone's. But she just stood there. And then, I realized there was something wrong with her. She wasn't transparent, or pale. I mean she looked solid. But she gave off the feeling of having no mass. It's very hard to explain. Then I became filled with absolute horror, and I screamed, and she faded away. It was in the middle of the day and the room was not dark.

I've had a few other similar encounters. When I was on pain meds I saw people in my apartment all the time.

I've done hallucinogenic drugs before. I've always been able to identify an hallucination. These were something different.

I really don't bother to theorize about it. And I really hope it never happens again. I'm not interested, and it's scary.

EDIT: I'm a fund-raiser for non-profits, BTW.

73. Wow.
on the flip side, the 20-something daughter of a really close friend of mine was drinking sooooo much water on a daily basis that she actually ended up having seizures and almost dying. Her potassium levels had basically been flushed away from all the water. She had a condition whose name escapes me right now, but it was definitely a touch-and-go situation with her for a while. She was in a coma for almost 3 days. It was a miracle she came out of it unscathed.

Nowadays she drinks Propel, the stuff that has electrolytes in it.

1. I'm not stupid because I follow directions, and just because the directions weren't meant to be followed by me doesn't make me stupid either. Emails shouldn't be sent to people on what changes to make if the people receiving the email aren't the ones that are supposed to make those changes. Edited to add "unless the email tells the recipient that 'these are the changes to be made BUT NOT BY YOU. You just keep doing the same thing until further notice'."

2. I still want my hair a lighter red.

The worst part was that they were standing right next to a memorial in the cathedral dedicated to Americans who died as RAF volunteers during World War II before the United States was officially at war with Germany. It made me feel good to stand up for the British, who had chosen a spot in arguably the most recognizable building in the country to honor those who had given their lives fighting fascism.

104. Random stuff

2. I've never met anyone not related to me that has my middle name for their first or middle name.

3. I've been collecting records since I was in fifth grade, though I'm almost too young (22) to have ever bought one new at a mainstream music store.

4. I have irrational fears of porcelain doll faces and dogs walking on their hind legs.

5. I currently don't have much of a clue about what to do with my life.

105. my five:

1. I dream in color.

2. I have a motorcycle.

3. The most exciting weekend I had, ever:
Saturday: The drugstore I was in had an explosion and a fire. The manager kept us IN the burning building until the police could arrive. I guess he thought we were all suspects.
Sunday: I sat as the passenger in a two-seat WWII plane and flew the entire practice run of a professional aerobatic routine. At one point I was upside down at 3.5Gs and did not puke.

4. I flirt outrageously online, but that is just my alter ego running amok.

5. I have an irrational fear of needles. I would rather have the flu than the flu shot.

110. Is your back okay now?

I hope they untwinged it, somehow, or at least masked it so you can rest a while.

It's been a while since I've seen you. Nice pajamas, too, I must say. :loveya:
