TiVo is cool. But it seems rather too intelligent for its own good.

I'm new to this... I worry about the TiVo achieving sentient consciousness like Skynet, declaring martial law and establishing itself as our master.

Also, where it records "extra" shows it thinks are in line with your tastes... it recorded two episodes of "Friends" for me... I had to discipline it severely...

save a lot of disk space as well...

but 4 minutes worth of commercials fly by in about 30 seconds. So no biggie.

As for recording stuff on its own, you can turn off the "record suggestions" function under preferences. I had to turn it off because it was recording too much stuff for me to watch. :P

7. I like TiVo but I don't think it's always that smart.

Until I made it stop, it was taping shows I wouldn't watch if you paid me.
