Any Criterion DVD collectors out there?
Edited on Mon Nov-24-03 11:27 PM by scottcsmith
What's the rarest Criterion DVD you own?

Mine is Pier Pasolini's "Salo."
Next valuable is "Robocop."

Criterion's "Robocop" is awesome. Plus, it's the unrated director's cut.

I haven't watched "Salo" yet but I understand it's a tad disgusting.

1. Just bought my first on last week
Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas

Awesome! I love all the extras. We Johnny Depp fans are lobbying them to put out a Criterion edition of Dead Man. Don't know if it'll happen though.

2. In the soon to be not so rare category. . .
I own the Tati Trilogy. I don't know what they're selling for now that they announced they'll be back in print. . . but they were up there for a while.

The only other OOP one I own is Dead Ringers by Cronenberg, but I don't think it's worth much yet.

I owned a copy of The Killers that I sold.

I've got a load of in print ones. Just got Naked Lunch, Tokyo Story, and Good Morning. . . . ahhhh Criterion. . . good stuff.

3. I still have 23 Criterion Laserdiscs...
My favorite Criterion DVD is Rushmore.

Armageddon? A Criterion?? Disney must have driven a dumptruck full of cash to get them put the Criterion label on that piece of sh*t.

4. I've never seen Salo
But I hear it's an experience which changes people. I'm not really sure I'm ready to be changed by that movie, especially considering the descriptions I've heard of it.

I dunno how rare it is, but the most random Criterion DVD I own is the I am Curious (Yellow)/I am Curious (Blue) double-set, which I bought from an International DVD and Poster a few weeks ago..
